Ok let me try and write it more clear: I was trying to say that most of the soldiers stationed there haven't a clue about the true purpose of this war. They truly think this is all about their precious (but in reality non-existant) fight for freedom while the people pulling the strings, who were actually quite aware of the immense chaos that was about to be unleashed upon Iraq, had a totally different agenda, an agenda concerning contracts and financial aspects (of which oil is but a minor part) and not at all towards the humane aspect. Whatever bolloxing freedom shit story they're selling the world is just a cheap smokescreen and everyone's buying into it. Which is why I stated that the soldiers are put there for show, and I'm quite aware that they're getting killed and beheaded and whatever more, but that's exactly why I called them stupid because they're getting killed not "protecting our freedom", but simply protecting the head honcho's dirty business interests, who always enjoy full deniability. It had in fact nothing to do with any disrespect shown towards these people, but more so with my tendancy to feel sorry for their ignorance over this entire situation. |

I do wonder about this, while I am sure some poor lad has had his head cut off in the most horrific manner, I wonder if this video, that we´ve all pretty much seen, is put out to counter all the images of degraded Iraqui prisoners? So that we think, well making a gay pyramid with them is quite bad but we didn't cut their heads of like pigs. I am just wondering about the timing of it. |

Yes, but i guess i mean the media handling of it, every transcript of it notes the guy screams... People die everyday, Americans get shot everyday there, i know this chap is a civilian and killed on video, but i can't help feel the media are complicit in making this another iconic image, to up the ante on the Iraqui with the bag on his head and wires on his fingers, that will be used to shut up dissenters of the "war on freedom". |
