... if new Aphex Twin album came out and if it contradicted
your taste in music?

What if it were something you dislike?

What if it were a complete contradiction of IDM baloon you
are worshiping?

would you still babble things that in reality have no
meaning, like you are now ?

I am not sure why, but this electronic music hype started to
make less importance to me. Maybe it is because I see the
music from the same level it was made. I know how easy some
things were to make (with proper tools of course) so I just
observe and wonder whether some of you are in some kind of a
trance.... I do not mean to insult you, but to give you a
taste of my perception for a further (and hopefully NORMAL)
discussion.

it's fine to give us a taste of your perception, but then at
least GIVE us a taste of your perception. :)

I did that many times. I liked it (many times).
It is like food that you like and eat every single day until
you learn how each bite take tastes like. It is not same
food after you eat it over and over again.

(this food thing is just for making an analogy)

In other words, I am becoming sick of RDJ, Squarepusher and
others alike.

My taste became obscure.

It's an interesting idea..But I don't really think AFX would
release anything he wasn't happy with..

And it's kinda important to consider that Aphex reaches in
many different genres & sounds, way beyond just IDM; I love
the geeky side of him, the experiments and the piss-take
tracks...They make him 3D, rather than just a surface only
image...

He's an artist..and true art is a journey and an
exploration, & not just a "trend"...

(heh...I hope this makes sense in the morning...)...

OK I will tell you exactly what I mean.

For example, when I went to see Pusher's gig I started
laughing when I heard people cheering some sample that I can
make just by slowing it down in cool edit without changing a
pitch. I mean, COME ON! crowd seemed like a bunch of
morons, and I felt alone in this universe. The whole thing
became fake and if there weren't some elements that got my
ears interested, I would start hating Ultravisor to its
bones.

This is only one of many things I have encountered.

Is that perception enough?

"this thread turned out shit."
Not my fault.

good...personally.

no, he means the reverence people have for this.

I think the reverence for Aphex, SP and AE is maybe too much
on this board - they're just some guys trying to make
music.

but that's just the way I like to listen to music and how I
like to see musicians - I don't want to make them more than
they are.

to me it's all this stuff about how some musician is a
genius, and how he can manipulate emotions blah blah blah.

it's a kind of deification that I just don't want to
participate in, I guess. :)

the problem is that most of ppl make them overrated cos the
society works like that.
you get one damn good piece of electronic music, and
initially ppl start to awe the author, cos they heard from
someone that autechre or afx is #1.

"so you actually go to a gig to hear something
complicated?"

No. I like good things.
But drawing a line on a paper I cannot call a good drawing
either (yeah you could say "what if it were a perfect
circle?"... that is not what I mean... what I mean is just a
stupid child-like line on a piece of paper).

You don't know how awful it was noticing crowd cheering
something that is so... simple, like drawing a simple,
childish line on a paper.

But I don't blame the crowd. Most of them don't make music
so they just take it the way it sounds or get hyper due to
whatever they think it is (like falling into some
self-induced trance).

Not shit...some interesting ideas coming up...

"Cheap Tricks" & all that, can, I agree, end up sounding
kinda cliched and easy - so many IDM fans create tracks
thenselves, it's no surpise we too often hear the process
beneath the music & thats leads to a certain jaded "I could
do that" air...remember if it's all easy easy easy then wtf
aren't you releasing stuff yourself?....

3051 sounds like the old "i see the world objectively, but
no one else does..."

i say nothing is...everything seems.

don't be surprised if your tastes evolve as you experience
more varieties of music, but resist criticizing others
because they don't share your views.

your self-satisfied, smug criticism paints everyone with the
same broad brush, making all people who like electronic
music out to be hero-worshipping fashion-mongers. no
offense, but you must be a teenager.

i think you underestimate your peers here.
