hey all, i had some trouble loading native waves onto my
laptop im thinking because its a cracked copy and the new
version of windows doesnt enjoy the crack so much. any idea
what other dx or vst plug ins i could try? i have alot of
semi ok ones with fruityloops but the native waves ones were
top notch so im looking for something to replace those.
maybe looking to trade...
anyone know of fun freeware shareware hacked cracked or
trade-able programs out there?

Frothbottom from New York on 2002-01-01 03:06 [#00065348]

get a mac first.

muir on 2002-01-01 03:12 [#00065351]

haha, no thanks. im a long time user of the good ol'
windows running computers.

Frothbottom from New York on 2002-01-01 03:15 [#00065353]

macs are better for music. richard james has three of 'em.

muir on 2002-01-01 03:19 [#00065355]

everyone says things like that, for audio and graphics they
say macs are better but still no one has ever given me one
bit of reason why it is. it just is? not good enough of an
answer for me. plus.. i can do anything i want on my
computer already. im quite happy with the sounds i can make
and the flexability i have (well at least i was until i lost
the native waves package, but still). so if im happy with
what i have then why change?

Frothbottom from New York on 2002-01-01 03:41 [#00065362]

the mac menu is much moe accessable than the start button on
windows. you have more control with macs, and the mac mice
only have 1, big button to push, which is definately a plus.

muir on 2002-01-01 03:43 [#00065363]

the start up menu comment seems a bit silly... tell me what
you mean by more control?

Frothbottom from New York on 2002-01-01 03:46 [#00065367]

the commands. instead of doing things by moving the mouse
everywhere, you can do, for example, 'command Q', and that
will quit a program.

the way the mac windows are set up is also much easier than
windows.

muir on 2002-01-01 03:49 [#00065368]

hm.. still sounds like odd things to make someone think they
are sooo much better.
and the one button thing.. eh.. are two buttons that much of
a hassle?

Korben Dallas from _ on 2002-01-01 03:50 [#00065369]

isn't the big up so to speak that its meant to be a lot more
stable?

Frothbottom from New York on 2002-01-01 03:51 [#00065371]

I guess the two button thing isn't so bad...I'm just used to
one.

you should buy reason www.propellerheads.se

woah, the weekly (monthly) poll changed...

What is protools ?

Frothbottom from New York on 2002-01-01 03:59 [#00065373]

I've heard of protools, but I've never used it before...some
sort of music program that uses midi...

Taxi on 2002-01-01 12:08 [#00065411]

You can customize a PC. More (cracked) programs available.

Macs aren't necessarily better. They just come with free
music and video programs on them (and honestly, they look
pretty shit).

IMNSHO, Macs and PCs are equal.

Protools .. if you really want to know check
www.digidesign.com

In a nutshell it does what Cubase/Logic/Cakewalk etc. does.
ie. Audio/Midi sequencer kaboosh. Only, Protools can come in
systems of several tens of thousands of dollars (which
includes mastering shit, mixers and flash equipment they use
in studios n that).

Midi compared to Logic and Cubase (and I'm pretty sure the
others) is very shit. Audio tho is meant to be (with a
Protools system) un paralleled. .. ?

Either way .. protools Free is quite a fun program one can
play around with, and its got pretty cool pitch bend and
time stretch ???

i was never happy with reason. i personally thought it was
highly over rated especially considering it doesnt support
vst or direct x effects. but i do know some pretty good
local artists who use it so apparently it is useful. but
most everything is useful to some extent.

windows has keyboard short-cut commands to shut down and
open programs like a mac.. you can buy a one button mouse
for windows and set the mouse properties setting in control
panel for a one click mouse.. you can custom the START menu
pretty easy... more muzick software is supported on windows,
more sound cards are supported on win... macs are not more
stable from my experince.. i use them at the college comp
lab and thier macs freeze and crash 20% more often than
windows.. although those window boxes are using
error-checking ram..

protools are for well PROfessionals.. master all the so
called "weak" software then if you have the money and
experince buy protools... the version of protools my friend
has is a hardware/software package.. he never went into
detail about the hardware part but i'm guessing its a
special midi interface sound card that was made just for
protools software... alot of artists use protools now, but
when they were struggling and putting out thier first
album/demo, i doubt they had $1,000 plus to spend on
protools...

PEOPLES PEOPLES HUSH!
PRO-TOOLS is the mutz nuts and if you go to the DIGI-DESIGN
web-site you can download a free 8 track version!
i use the full version at college and its lovely with
amazing timestretch function and fantastic control! the full
version is a bit expensive, though there are about three
versions of it each getting a bit cheaper but less powerfull
and i even think you can get it for the pc though i prefer
the good old g4!
wow how come you folks are on about pro-tools i thought this
site was full of fruity loop amatures?

Taxi on 2002-01-02 20:29 [#00065700]

Dude, fruityloops is just a tool. Its the musician that
makes the music.

I use over 150 different programs. Fruityloops is just one
of many.

dingle berry from on a small plastic chair breathing fire on 2002-01-02 20:36 [#00065701]

yeah i know what your saying! its just that everytime i come
on this message board i always end up getting dissed coz i
prefer to use hardware rather than the software type
synths!
p.s im not a rich boy i own nothing but my equipment thats
it!

Taxi on 2002-01-02 20:46 [#00065702]

I would love to be able to do hardware synthesis. I don't
have the billz to afford gear tho.
