just visited Apple.com and there's a new version of iTunes available that boasts lossless encoding? anyone know what encoder is being used for this? |

yeh that's pretty cool too also i think they've optimized the visualizations engine - seems to run faster now on my iBook :) it'll be scorching on a PowerBook! |

the lossless encoding creates files at something like 900 kps but the file size is much bigger than aac |

really? i was under the impression that it encodes it as one big file?? can you confirm if its separate files? >mappatazee no i think there are others, but i don't think they come anywhere close to the iPod's size for such a large capacity *please don't quote me on this, i'm not too clued up on music players* |

i think you need quicktime 6.5.1 to use losless and it increases the quality of AAC encoding. Its available to download now form apple |
