I really want to get this, downloading it for DC at the moment but the torrent is stuck at 97% like a twat. Even maddox liked it.

horse, I finally stole an avatar from you.
I actually fucking hate maddox these days. I feel like sometimes you can really detect him struggling to assume his macho persona, and slightly failing. He is damned funny, but I feel like I'm being convinced of something cheap when I see his shit. I banned myself from him a few months back to be correct, when he had a dip in quality (around the thailand trip I guess it was)..

That guy reminds me of the 'Chicks Suck' guy and the Misanthropic Bitch. I wonder if she's dead by now...

I can buy one pretty cheap these days, and since the games are also inexpensive, I should just friggin' do it. It's not like I'd be 2x as happy if I paid 2x as much for ps2 and those games.. of course continuing that logic, you'd realize I should be happy with my emulators and friend's ps1, which I am, with the exception of ikaruga. I'm boring. who read this far?

Odds on Qrter using that as his next avatar ;)
Ikaruga is great, but I've not played it the past couple of months (although I probably will go back to it after my recent spate of playing old side scrollers). It's very challenging and seems the sort of game that even when you complete it (I haven't, I'm on level 5) you'd still go back and replay it.
Mertens: RE Tekken.
Damn straight, I was playing tekken 1 in the arcade the other day and I'd forgot how bad it was... even though the graphics were nice at the time, it's not a patch on Virtua Fighter 1 now the eye candy has worn off.

"Has anyone ever beaten this?"
That's a good question :-p I wonder if it's possible?
I can never get past stage 4 myself. So many bullets. It's so confusing that the red bullet-streams rotate in the opposite direction of the white bullet-streams... eventually I always fuck up and get destroyed. It's so intense though... I love it :-)
I kinda wanna put my tv on it's side to experience the game to the fullest :-p But that would probably be a bad idea.

ceri: well, from what I know about it, though the execution is perfect, the game is as hard-core mechanical as you get. I mean, it does as much as possible to become nothing but reaction time and finger dexterity, so understandably it loses reply value. In any case I really really do want to play it; I love shooters and though I usually don't care for nice gfx, I've played a few pretty ones on ps1 (raycrisis is gorgeous) and really enjoyed it.
BTW regarding raycrisis: put it on the hardest mode, otherwise it's a waste of time.
I wish I had access to a gamecube..

The replay value comes in the form of "bullet eating"... a technique involving completing the game without firing a shot (except presumably on the bosses).

i think this game is a masterpiece.
i never got past the boss of level 3 though - but i get to level 4 most of the time, once (with 7 continues or something like that so that's not glorious -_-) even past that giant circular bunker with the bullet pattern of death...
be careful, the more you get points, the more continues you will get for future parties - this is a good thing in the beginning, when you want to go further and find the game really hard, but if you don't disable this continue expansion thing when you get up to 9 (or before), you will get "free play" - which means, infinite continues. which i think ruins the game - with infinite continues, anyone can finish the game... = /
