is there such thing as the RIAA radar, but to find out
if a record is copy-protected or not?

(i know you can check on the cd case at the record store of
course, but when ordering on amazon or something, you don't
know....)

i'm not that keen on checking if the cd or vinyl i bought in
the record shop is copy protected or not.
tho,it's funny to see riaa struggle to extinguish something
that music industry selfmade.

copy-protection? ha!

somewhat related - i heard there was a study done by a
collegic institution that showed that music downloads had NO
effect on music sales - it in fact boosted them. when will
the industry realize that online music downloading is the
ultimate marketing tool?

plaster > yeah... it's "funny" or just annoying at first,
when they're just closing p2p networks... and then, they put
copy-protections on cds... and then, arrest people and fine
them with astronomic sums of money... and then, get
really angry and start to be really dangerous:
they're the ones who made the french government adopt
fascist laws about internet control.

and this doesn't make me laugh anymore. at all.

people always say they will never win the war of p2p
networks etc, that pirates will always be stronger..... but
i seriously doubt this.

Oddioblender > i think they're just... either stupid, either
stubborn as hell, either just willing to piss everyone off.
probably all three.

i can just say it's funny cos i didn't have riaa on my
back,so i'm not that aware of the consequences.
ok,we all know that music industry has it's own laws, but hey
if we would all go by the book,we shouldn't play music
anywhere except for ourselves @ home.
it's also rediculous to give ppl such penalties for owning
mp3's or whatever pirated material.
damn, the goverment should end up some real crime, stuff that
really harms the society, not some music downloading
business.
imo...they don't know what to do so they pray for the
weakest,and that's us.

copy protection = lame and useless

if you can play it you have to read it, so you can copy it

The RIAA lose sales because their advertising becomes
inaffective, i.e., people have access to music that doesn't
have million dollar ad campaigns, so people buy from labels
that aren't RIAA affiliated.
