...don't you hate it when they put telephone conversations, answering machine messages etc. in albums... (and even Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention have done it!!!) -_-
annoying and pure filler. most of the time it's not even modified.
just, who cares about them anyway?? who needs fake conversations to make an album sound like a movie or something by artificial means, or real conversations for the artist to expose his/her privacy in public...

it's nice to hear Richards parents sing "happy birthday," though...
which album is it that sparked this outburst of hate towards phone-calls in albums?

Check "mogwai - tracy" for excellent use of a phone conversation.

Drunken Mastah > no particular album actually : )
i just wanted to make this topic for a long time, and as i just got Transformer by Lou Reed and as there was a track called "New York Telephone Conversation" (haven't listened to it yet), it reminded me of this.... (also i just converted "Enfilade" by At The Drive-In to mp3 into my computer and set the beginning of the track at 00:29, so i could listen to it without always having to put the cd on and skip the first 29 seconds - it's my favourite track but it has 29 seconds of telephonic conversation before it starts ^^ even if it makes sense somewhat, it's annoying especially when playing the track on repeat.)

Ironically the song "New York Telephone Conversation" by Lou Reed doesn't include a recording of a telephone call at all. Crazy!
