...but it is very unlikely that you would be drinking tea made from them. These 'urine' trees are only found on a remote south pacific island off the coast of new zealand. The native 'Tiontu' people have long noted the scent of the trees similarity to human urine and called them 'mitsu' trees which is 'smelling of urine' in their native language. If your tea tastes like urine it's probably from a poor crop of green tea, poor in that the catechin polyphenols have been replaced largely with thromboxane. This is usually if it is grown in a poor area, and then harvested at the wrong time. The timing comes from the time that the Klebsiella pneumoniae bacillus takes to culture, which is responsible for anaerobically degrade the uric acid that can build up in the tea leaves. To put it simply, you unfortunately drank some bad tea. |

tea can have sometimes weird/interesting flavours... never came across one who tasted like urine though... ^^; i tried one who tasted almost like algae or something marine once. i like a lot "amacha" (lit. "sweet tea"), which isn't really tea but is made from another plant, hydrangea... the closest thing i find to describe the taste is liquorice (!). and macha, that green japanese tea powder they use for tea ceremony, can have quite varied taste too (i think), and is totally different... i tasted only once real macha made in a ceremony, the taste was really special and very herbal, a bit bitter but good... (i think there must be different machas, more or less bitter, because i read many times it was awfully bitter) - i found it very good... - we have macha powder at home, but can't manage to prepare it well enough : P you can do cakes, some kind of milkshakes, and other stuff with it though, can give delicious (well, i find it delicious) results! =) & i like candied ginger a lot... matter of taste. |

Yeah, damned good, with milk. dog_belch I used to have a friend that lived in the same building who was sometimes too lazy to go to the bathroom and would pee in his mugs .. so you would see cups lying around with coffee sludge, cigarette butts, and urine in them ... |
