and now for something completely different..

I just thought I'd point out possibly my favorite ambient
album, which has an unfortunately shit title no doubt
turning away many hopefuls. Here's a discogs link. Anyway it's a
very relaxed album, with a lot of variety, layers, and nice
flow. Highly recommended (and mind you I basically think
everything sucks--it's rare for me to recommend..)

my favorites are the orbital track (attached) and the
synthetix track (the tao of dub). it's a pretty solid comp
for those who appreciate the style. most of the tracks have
a melancholy tint to them.

ten years old...

Indeed it's old. I like tao of dub as well, but also like
dreamscape and introspection quite a bit.

If I'm listening to something that isn't autechre, it's most
likely dated. And no this isn't some elitist comment like
'all music in the past 10 years sucks'; there are simple
psychological reasons like nostalgia and increasing
grumpiness, as well as practical reasons like frugality (old
releases can be found for times (well of course unless
they're sought after)).

glad you like it as well. I also have volumes one and
three, which aren't nearly as good.

Funny story is that this CD is what got me started on aphex.
I downloaded some music from an online friend (around 6
years ago), and the 'dreamscape' track was mislabelled as
being from aphex twin ambient works volume 2. I bought that
and then this CD, and loved them both..
