I don't read every thread that gets posted here but I'm sure I would've noticed if one was made about You Are The Quarry, which is due out next month. Why do I get the feeling that nobody here cares? Please prove me wrong.

i have a good friend that is a huge morrissey fan. i like some of the smiths stuff and a couple morrissey songs but i get kinda tired of his voice after while. so i wasn't really psyched about this new release. but i bet my fanatical friend is.

Giving this thread the old one-month-later second chance bump. There's already quality rips of the album online, anyone check it out yet?

I haven't heard it yet, I am waiting til I buy it. I love Morrissey, dearly. Pop music could do with a few more literate, charismatic demi gods. Oye Esteban!

Morrissey is my Goddess. That said, I've heard a few tracks from it, and it really doesn't seem all that good. The album titles really got my hopes up... ''First of the Gang to Die'', ''The World is Full of Smashing Bores''... unmistakeably you, Moz. The album is too over the top for me, or something. Something about it doesn't rub me the right way. It's too easy to sing along to some of the songs.
''Come Back to Camden'' is probably my favorite on the album, though there's one or two tracks I haven't really listened to yet. The album is a 6.5/10 for me as of now, but it concievably rise to an 8 in time.
It's a little better than ''Boomslang'', I guess. Nothing special musically, but the lyrics are a joy, as always.

The only track I have heard is English Heart Irish Blood... And it sounds good. I have to give it to the mozzer, his voice is still one to be reckoned wif.

"I Have Forgiven Jesus" and "I'm Not Sorry" are my favorites, the latter especially. I'd like to hear Morrissey take a stab at an acoustic/folk album, something like Luxor by Robyn Hitchcock. I think he can pull it off.

Yes, that's the opening track. It's a decent song, not one of my favorites. I think he could've used this opportunity to say so much more about the U.S. but chooses to attack the hamburger and is pretty vague about everything else.
America / your head’s too big / because America / your belly’s too big and I love you I just wish you’d stay where you is / in America / the land of the Free, they said and of opportunity in a Just / and a Truthful way but where the President is never black or female or gay / and until that day you’ve got nothing to say to me to help me believe / in America / it brought you the hamburger well America / you know where you can shove your hamburger and don’t you wonder why in Estonia / they say “hey you, / you big fat pig” / “you fat pig” / “you fat pig” Steely-blue eyes / with no love in them scan the world and a humourless smile with no warmth within greets the world and I / I have got nothing / to offer you just this heart deep and true which you say you don’t need - see with your eyes / touch with your hands - please - hear through your ears / know in your soul - please for haven’t you me with you now? and I love you / I love you / I love you I love you / I love you / I love you

Yeah, I saw an interview with him on CNN Headline News last week. Some of his 80s work was pretty good. That and The Smiths have quite a few good tunes.

I saw him on the jONATHAN rOSS show last night - his first interview in sevenTEEN years. He played his new single, Irish Blood English Heart, which I liked. I think I'll download his new album, see if I likes it - I might consider buying it if I do.

I saw him on Jonathan Ross as well. He seemed, as loogie said, a bit of a cunt. It's a fine line to walk between "uncompromising" and "cunt" and since he's getting on a bit now he seems to be veering towards the latter. He was pretty crap as an interviewee and I'm betting he had to be pushed into doing it by others.
I didn't like the song much either. I've never been a huge fan of Morrissey but that's mostly due to the fact that his voice grates on me after a while. The songs have always had an edge though.
His voice has changed a bit now and become less unique. And the song just seemed a bit dull.
He's live on Peel this week, I hear, so maybe I'll give him another listen.

His new single, which he's been hawking around every tv show in existence it seems (was he on Des & Mel too?) sounds just like Idlewild, which is really quite... sick.
