 | Finally a topic on this... :-D
I also played all of these games and I think they are the
reason that I play computer games at all....

Monkey Island was great, but MI2 was the best of it!! First
I didn't like MI3, but then I was totally into it (hte map
 on the back is great!)

Somehow I was not a friend of the 3D-grafx on MI4, so I
didn't play it to the end!

Day Of Tentacle was also great, especially the plot!

Sam and Max was one of my favorites, mainly 'cause of the
foul language ("Hey Max, this ain't a fucking gift, just a
 goddamn torch!)

Both Indiana Jones were really great, but the first was
heavily censored in Germany 'cause of all the swastikas, and
the next was too hard in my point of view... (but it was
 pretty much fun to play!)

 | only a few months ago i started playing Monkey Island 3 again, there's such good humour in it

anyone remember the banjo-battle? you have to play the same
notes as the guy you meet at the barber, the 3rd or 4th time
he starts playing like there's no tomorrow, all of a sudden
his banjo makes electric guitar sounds and he keeps on going
on... took me quite a while till i found out i had to shoot
 that damn banjo of his

the dialogue-battles on the pirate-ships are also funny:

pirate: "you're as ugly as a monkey in a negligé"
you: "do i look that much like your fiancé?"

 i love(d) those games

 | I'm listening to the soundtrack now, there are some classic one liners in all Lucas Arts games:

 Hoagie: "Whoa your like...George Washington!"
George: "Very much like him according to my wife Mrs.
 Washington"

Bernard: "Well, you know what they say...if you wanna save
the world you gotta push a few old ladies down the stairs"

Guybrush: "I don't like to chew anything a gorilla sat on"

 | I LOVE just about all (old pixel) point and click-adventures... Some of my favourite developers:
 * Sierra (police quest/LSL/King's quest-series...etc)
 * Lucas Arts (S&M/MM/DOTT
 (MM2)/FT/MI-series/IJ-series/etc),
 * Adventuresoft (Simon the Sorcerer 1&2)

 But there's a lot more!...

 | Moneky Island 3 + 4 are great games.
the Dig is pretty good, subtle wit and hard puzzles. Grim
 Fandango is amazing.

 | I had a go at a grim demo, looks pretty cool. Obviously you couldent do much on the demo, but I got the picture anyway

 | I really thought they completely arsed up everything with Monkey Island 4. It wasn't a bad game, it just took
everything that made the previous 3 great and made it, well,
 awful.
Sam & Max 2 however looks to be excellent. I canne wait.

 | There's also a very large amateaur adventure development community. There are already some excellent (if albiet
graphically challenged) games released, and some scaringly
 proffesional ones in development.
 Which is good.
