i have it in my ipod listening on my way to and from work so
i don't know any track names or even numbers...

there are certainly quite a few really great songs on it,
but the album as a whole i find quite boring.

and i would have preferred ultravisitor to be much more
electronic.

i loves it....

trk 1, "ultravisitor" is a masterpiece of pounding
percusion, washed out hi-hats, great >[] melody.

trk 2, the way it bleeds from the previous track and serves
as a tense little intro to trk 3,

50 cycles - incredible.... great use of an extra-long intro
with lots of detail before the banging climax

"steinbolt" - didn't like it at first but now it begs me to
be played over and over - squarepusher makes you anticipate
the final run of trash/jungle so well.

"melenac".... intstant TJ

"district line 2".. my current favourite..... so many false
starts and it juts sets up its own unique atmosphere..
"welllcommmmmmme tooo flllllllllllllaaatbush"

"tetra sync".... memories of Hard Normal and Music is
Rotted... a great last pounding number before the calm of
the last 2 tracks which have there own subtle charm.

Some of it is good, I'm not sure about the rest yet. It's a
good sign that different people like different bits.

skuarepusher is much better than squarepusher... and Autecre
are much better then Autechre... and Apex Twin is much
better than Aphex Twin, and WhopperAttack is much better
than WooferAttack

i may have to change my mind here... i've been listening
more to ultravisitor (like 3 times today already) and must
say it's getting better and better each time.

i will have to revise my post where i say the album is
boring. (can't believe i used the b-word...)

if ultravisitor keeps growing it may even end up in my top
10 for 2004.

Stop whining motherbitches and try downloading and listening
to an album BEFORE actually purchasing it, so that the
frustration caused by having, in your humble opinion, wasted
money will be substantially less.

Having said that, I bought the album today....and it's good
enough.

who cares about ultravisitor, his breezeblock set is as near
to a perfect piece of music as anything i've heard.

Ultravisitor. I like it. Especially the "wanky", not so
obvious bits. It's sprawling but coherant.

I couldn't listen for more than two seconds. Not only does
it suck, but the last thing I want is the stupid cunt saying
things to me and then his troop of mongoloids jeering at
me.

thanks for starting this thread.

These threads are weird.

Some Ultravisitor threads are completely positive, and
others, like this one, are very negative.

I just dont see how a fan of electronica doesn't like this
release, i think its brilliant.

It's because things like this get emotional, debates get
ridiculous, and knowing that people avoid them. So people
saying nice things clump together, people saying bad things
clump together. I said nothing intelligent or analytical in
my post--just a blithe criticism. That's just how it goes.

Right you are sneakattack, and I respect your opinion.

What squarepusher albums do you like, if any?

Who is the stupid cunt and the troop of
mongloids
you refer to in your post, may i ask?

offline D-Steak from Kansas City, Mo. (United States) on 2004-04-07 12:35 [#01136211]

"stupid cunt" probably refers to Thomas Jenkinson

"troop of jeering mongoloids" is probably the crowd noise
throughout the album.

Thats some funny shit i must admit.

i also went to the toronto show last night.... it was really
good

seemed to be about 80-90% unreleased stuff, most of it was
like the hardest of his material... there were no soft songs
at all

his bass playing is amazing.......and it was cool to see him
make that harmonic progression at the beginning of Menelec
(not that that is particularly impressive to play) with his
bass guitar, too bad he didn't actually play that track :(
he did play Steinbolt, and he opened the show with the first
piece in his march 16th Breezeblock performance
and he played along the bassline to lots of tracks, and some
really REALLY fucking cool offbeat bass solos that were more
about rhythm than the bass solos on Ultravisitor

he makes his weird hand gestures along to the beats, like
twisting his hand through the air to mimic the path of the
rhythm... which was cool since i bet a lot of ppl listening
to his music do the same sort of thing

for his encore he played Come On My Selector

It was that rubbish to begin with. Don't force
yourself to like it.

the breezeblock set was EXACTLY the same as wot he played in
london for the rfh sinfonietta show. so not very live
really.

Yeah steinbolt is like 3 diff. songs with million of other
songs in between. There are 10 seconds of good stuff, then
3 minutes of pure bull..... thing, and then it becomes OK
after the middle that has nothing to do with beginning.
