If you use a drum machine (e.g. boss/korg) can you assign samples from a sampler to a specific parts of the drum, so that after you program the machine it'll play the sample instead of the original sound (e.g. yelp instead of a kick). Sorry if this sounds stupid but im learning about drum machines.
Also...what is the best drum machine on the market in your opinion?, to make vordbosn/vic acid/port rhombus type stuff... thanks for any input.

umm.. w/my Boss DR-202 and SP-202... I can assign the "kick" on the DR... to play a sample... using the midi ports connected to my SP. I would not say that the DR-202 is the best... it's a starter drum machine
IMO: I would say that the best drum machine is the Yamaha RM1x... simply b/c you can sample your own sounds to the key.... and have it in a drum machine set up. customizable/buildable drum loops/sounds.... also is a sequencer
