how wrong they were.
its left my pc with all these gay popups......

anyone got any idea where they might be installed on my
computer so i can just delete them....?

a packet of tomato sauce walkers and a mars bar is in the
post to whoever successfuly tells me.....

cheers.

get something like Ad-aware.
I am not sure which one is the best (I use Ad-aware).

you can get Ad-aware (the free version) at:

I use ad-aware alone doesn't get all of them, you usually
have to use 2 different scans.

I use ad-aware and spy-bot

Also google toolbar is great for blocking pop ups from web
pages and it is very minimalistic

yeah I agree on that.
although I have no problems with spyware at the moment (that
I know of... damn bastards!) but I have some other software
that I run from now and then.

I haven't really seen pop-ups actually come out of no-where,
but the fact that there is stuff installed without me
knowing about it gets me pissed off.

Also, don't install any of AIM's new 'games' that it comes
with, Wild Tangent installs spyware onto your computer, and
also even though I wiped all that shit off my hard-drive,
there is still a 'Wild Tangent' thing in my control panel.

Anyone know how to get rid of this?

here's what GoldenGameGod

saids about your problem, and how to solve it:

Follow these instructions in order, else bad things happen.

1. Close AIM
2. Open my computer and navigate to the folder \Program
Files\AIM
3. Delete the file AIMWDInstall
4. Navigate to the folder \Program Files\AIM\Sysfiles
5. Delete the file AIMWDInstall (do not delete
AIMWDUninstall)
6. Open add/remove programs in the control panel
7. Uninstall WildTangent multiplayer library
8. Uninstall WildTangent Web Driver
9. Uninstall WildTangent Updater
10. Restart the computer (make sure AIM is not set to start
with Windows)
11. Navigate to the folder C:\Program Files
12. Delete the WildTangent folder
13. Navigate to the folder C:\WINDOWS
14. Delete the wt folder
15. Open start/run and type regedit
16. Delete the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WildTangent
17. Add the domain wildtangent.com to the IE restricted
sites zone (even if you don’t use IE)
18. If this is the only user account on this PC you’re
done, if not keep reading
19. Open regedit again
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
20. Navigate to the key \Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains
21. Right click on it and hit export
22. Type a name for the file and save it to C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Documents or any other place that all
accounts can access
23. Log into each account, double click on the file, and hit
yes in the box that appears
24. You’re done

(this continiues in next post)

(continiue:)

For those of you running Sun Java, you must take extra steps
to eradicate WildTangent.

1. Navigate to the folder where you installed java (default
is something like C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03)
2. Open the \bin folder
3. Delete the file jDRM0302.dll
4. Delete the file wtdmmp.dll
5. Delete the file wtdmmpv.dll
6. Go back to the java install folder
7. Open the \lib\ext folder
8. Delete the file wildtangent.jar (duh, how the hell could
both Spybot SD and Ad-aware miss this???)
9. Delete the file wtdmmpi.jar
10. Delete the file DRM0302Java.jar
11. Your done, that is until they decide to ‘update’

You can find that post at:

cool, I also found to get rid of the control panel thing you
can search for 'wt.cpl, wtc.cpl, or wtcpl.cpl', and delete
that.
