i've heard this - it's really cool. kurt cobain plays some
great sick-sounding guitar, mostly noise with mutilated
christmas carols mixed in.

oh, his voice is integral. it's a great story and nothing
beats burroughs reading his own works.

on a semi-related note, has anyone heard the song "marigold"
by nirvana? it has grohl on vocals/guitar and kurt on drums.
it sounds sorta like a drearier foo fighters/nirvana combo.
not as bad as it might sound..

it was an in utero b side.. strange that they were switching
instruments that far into their fame/careers.

marigold is good... definitely could be considered the first
inkling of grohl's future endeavors.

i remember being really impressed with dave's voice on it
when it first came out. very soft and peaceful tune.

i find most of nirvana's b-sides do it for me just as much
if not more than most of the album tracks.

that's too bad about quiting music.. i know he had started a
band a while after kurt died, but i can't remember the
name..

grohl isn't a bad songwriter.. his stuff is just a bit too
poppy for me at times.. well maybe poppy isn't the
word.. but something about him and a few of his songs irk me
a bit..

grohl's got a good sense of humor thoguh, so i can't really
slag him for anything... he seems like a genuinely nice guy,
and i feel bad for both him and chris.... they got the crap
end of the stick for sure.

it's all still very sad, even after so long.

after nirvana, krist novoselic played in Sweet 75 (which i
think was a terrible band), then did some stuff with Jello
Biafra and Kim Thayil including The No WTO Combo live
record, then was in Eyes Adrift with Curt Kirkwood from the
Meat Puppets and the drummer from Sublime (which also really
sucked), and now he's heavy into politics and last i heard,
running for office.

dave grohl was actually pretty big in the underground
punk/metal scenes in DC before Nirvana. he played drums on
a record by hardcore band Scream and had a solo record
called Pocketwatch, in '90 i think. some of the songs on
his solo album are pretty good. in addition, he actually
collaborated with the Melvins back then on the King Buzzo
EP.
