Draft 7.30 Construction??

Hello, I am new to this forum. I have done some searching
on the topic I am about to post, even so I apologize if I am
repeating something that's already been covered. Here's my
topic:

It sounds like certain parts of Draft 7.30 are constructed
from older Autechre tracks, and I'm not sure how I feel
about this.

My main example is P.:NTIL. To me, it is so similar in
timbre to Arch Carrier that I suspect Arch was possibly
reworked or mangled significantly to create the track. My
aural clues are many, especially the deceptive but clear use
of the Arch bassline as a distinct sound element far back in
the mix, although it happens so fast you might not notice
it. This particular similarity is so strong that it
distracts me when I listen to it, and my ears prick up like
when somebody is sneaking up behind me with a knife.

Anybody else notice this?

maybe that's the intention

i know that whenever i hear a sample of a track that i know
and love embedded cleverly into a different track, i'm all
like "did you hear that?!!"

I haven't. In fact I don't think I have noticed shared
elements in autechre tracks (excluding the EPs, naturally)
in this way before. In comparing the two tracks I can see
what you mean a bit, but it could just be coincidence.

Hey I heard the bassline that you mentioned! I never noticed
it until now. It's at 4:04 am I right? I can hear it clear
as day. Cool observation ;D

I don't think there's anything wrong with "sampling
yourself." It's like artists using the same motif more than
once... just something that they like, or means something to
them.

Not noticed any in autechre though.

Good first thread. :)

I would be interested in investigating your find.

I don't have Arch Carrier so I can't comment on this
particular relationship, but I have noticed a few and I do
not think that they are deliberate, or rather the product of
reworking an old track.

For instance you could consider the melody of yulquen to be
a rip off of the main one (the one which eventually emerges
as a synthesis of all the previous stuff) in eggshell,
however I think it is just a manifestation of their own
personal style. They have a certain way they like things to
sound, and this will by definition consistently affect all
of their output. Luckily they have a wide variety of tastes
and are constantly evolving, so we have nice things to
listen to. Unluckily I seem to be unable to state anything
but the obvious at the moment.

I just downloaded Arch Carrier and I think this is another
case of what I just said. The common rhythmic/timbre/pitch
elements are simply due to the fact that the same people did
it, not that they redid an early work. It doesn't clinch
the argument, but both works definitely have a completely
different point/essence.

I started a thread a while back about internal structure in
autechre albums, and I remember great posts therein by
mappatazee and horsefactory... anyway Draft7.30 is quite a
far evolution from earlier stuff and I think this is
coincidental.

You don't have Arch Carrier... that means you DON'T HAVE LP5
????????666666666!!!„¢~!!!11„¢??? Run to buy it, man!

Speaking of LP5... I have the white version (which kinda
suck), but I was in a store last week and I saw the frosted
black version. Should I get it? I mean is it worth it for
like 15$ even if I already have LP5.... or should I leave
this copy for somebody else to discover AE. Hmmm, anybody?
Same goes for EP7, if I find the frosted one I'll jump on
it as it's the one with the hidden track (not my plain
version)...

get it on vinyl,

I have the white one too unfortunately

Have you ever wondered how it would sound to you if you had
gotten the black frosted version? It would probably be
totally different. No joke.

actually I downloaded it while writing the post and waited
for it to finish.. so I was able to comment on it at the
end. True I don't have lp5; I just started listening to
autechre but already have 8 albums (I like them quite a bit
as you can likely tell).

Aquinas, you got the time right- 4:04. You are definitely
hearing the same thing I am. It repeats a bunch of times as
well. Also, there are other elements in there that are quite
similar to Arch Carrier, although the patterns/notes are far
different.

I gotta give props to Autechre for the fact that I'm still
making weird connections on an album that I've had for a
year.

i realized today that i haven't listened to autechre in
months... but it has less to do with my not liking them (i
likes ae... some ae i likes a lot) than it does with the
fact that there's always too much stuff i have to hear

It doesn't matter... remixes can be as compelling as

listen to autechre all the time, and i'll probably never
stop listening... just haven't listened lately...

are they talking about like two 'ding dong' kind of notes
that sound kind of like the 'plucked' notes in arch carrier.
Whatever, I don't see how this makes it 'constructed out of
