george michael:

- kissing a fool
- cowboys and angels
- praying for time
- they won't go when i go

this guy's created a few classic songs, something more than
pop at many moments, i think. more than Wham! and the
stupid christmas video. too bad he got stuck into shit dance
pop lately.

Maybe you'll like this one: For You. Don't let the
intro fool you.

It sounds like a typical American take on D'n'B.

I'm guessing you didn't listen past the intro...

I heard the lot. Typical 'macho' intro, then sensitive faux
IDM jazz nonsense for a bit, the end. Did I miss anything?

No, you pretty much pegged it square on. I certaintly don't
envy your (lack of) appreciation for music.

It's formulaic rather than music.

I do like how young people cannot take criticisim,
and it's everyone else's fault if the reaction is that your
music sounds derivative and dull. Everyone else can't
appreciate it.

I understand if someone was doing something radically
different and people were saying "I can't get my fucking
head round this", but when it is just generic, formulaic
pish IDM DnB, and someone says so, it's all "Ha! You know
nothing about music"... maybe they do mate.

Should I assume that was directed at me?

No, assume it was directed at another idiot. You'll be able
to ignore people for a few more months.

It's a trend in general I have noticed.

Ah, name-calling. Quality individual you are, really adds
weight to your opinions.

I'm sorry, you are a fragile artiste. I'll put it another
way.

No, assume it was directed at another D'n'B by numbers
person. You'll be able to ignore people for a few more
months.

I haven't written my best, and I hope I never do.

smart-alec' response*

No, not fragile... The name-calling just clears up your
intent.

I'm not offended at all (even if it was your intent), I
actually chose to post that particular tune, because I
figured it would be more 'well-recieved' than alot of other
tunes I produce.

I also don't happen to agree that it's stereotypical
American DNB (although the intro is, for a purpose). Which
is why I asked if you'd listened past the intro (not because
I took offense to what you had said).

etc etc ad nauseam forum banter argument etc

Yeh, I understand. I've gotten my fair share of bad reviews
(should have seen what Grooves had to say).

I hate to try and pigeon-hole my sound with a single track,
because I don't think it shows what I really do, but given a
particular audience, I try and choose things that are a bit
more conservative and that I think would be 'well-received'
by that particular crowd...

someone.
