WTF was wrong with Stories...? It was a great album.

it was boring.

it didn't have any of the rawness or crackling energy the
other albums had.

it sounds like PJ Harvey going all U2 on us.

It was a good album. Some very good tracks, but a bit
easy-listening compared to her other stuff. I want some of
that rew sound she had earlier

straight to the recycle bin, are you sure this is the same
PJ Harvey?

Its was quite polished but that didn't detract from the
quality of the songs IMO. I don't have any objections to a
poppy sound or really good hooks and melodies, if they are
inspired.

well, I guess it didn't sound very inspired to me.

this was the only case that the collected b-sides
surrounding this release were better than the album itself.

the new one sounds great, btw!

follow mimi's link and have a listen for yourself!

some of it sounds soft, some of it very loud. some of it
returns to her electronic ditties. yeh.

Saying that, he does have some complete wank on his show at

interrests me.

well.. the new single is out almost a week now..

if you like, you can see the new video by clicking
here.

for those who use Real Alternative there is also a
RealPlayer version (which has better audio).

marvel at Polly Jean dancing in hotelrooms and having a new
haircut in said hotelrooms and other places too, don't you
know.

me too.

I bet she'll play it tomorrow. :(

there's a nice interview with her in a Dutch paper today,
because of her rockstadium-concert this evening.

she says something interesting about "Stories.."..
translating on the go here..

It [Stories..] was her "verse-chorusrecord". She says,
semi-bored: "Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, the
chorus twice - done. I'm very fond of 'Stories', don't get
me wrong, but it was that simple."

the new one sounds like an old one... in a good way.

very rough around the edges. grimey and raw. i think it
will kick Stories' ass...

you will not be disappointed

in the interview it says PJ kind of hints at the supposed
anorexia the British musicpress have ALWAYS said she has,
saying:

"There were some things happening. To me. It's isn't
completely gone."

I don't know..

well, the press have always said this and she's always
denied it.

the interviewer says she looks exceptionally unhealthy. I
didn't think she looked that bad at Jools Holland.

I'll report back what I think..

that album unlistenable.

lol...sorry

i got into pj harvey way back when she was an arty punk
chick...it's nice to hear she never shook that off. she
lost me when "is this desire" came out, though now that i'm
an old man in my thirties i would probably appreciate it...

this is my least favorite pj album though i do think it has
a couple of kick ass parts. no child of mine is my favorite
part (supposedly we will be able to hear the entire song on
the upcoming marianne faithful record this year), i love
shame, and you can't really beat desperate kingdom of love
or the darker days of me and him.

who the fuck is a real skipper for me.

i like the album artwork.

really like the opening track, "bad mouth"... heard that the
most, as I always listen to it when i wake up/go to bed, and
I've either got up and I've fallen asleep before its got
much further....

interesting, different... And every kind of mood is in that
album i think. In the Rock way at least.... Yeah. If you
don't know what too buy... Go for "uh huh her"

My PJ Harvey Concert

by alex qrterpants

1200 people standing in a small room.

PJ Harvey is surprisingly small - I was standing in the back
of the room and I had to keep on my feet to be able to
see her. I will present a setlist, although this does
not follow the order she played them in, because I can't
remember..

Uh huh her (not released)
Dress
Victory
Plants and rags
Fountain
To bring you my love
Meet ze monsta
Down by the water
Taut
A perfect day Elise
Big exit
Good fortune
The whores hustle and the hustlers whore
Shame
Who the fuck?
The letter
Cat on the wall
The darker days of me and him

I was kind of disappointed that she chose to play all the
"rockers" and hardly any of the "softer" songs.

I was deadpleased she played "fountain" and about the half
of "dry"!

wasn't she gallo's girlfriend...he's quite short as well, so
they would look really silly if she was tall :)

softer songs don't sound good infront of a big audience...
