This is not like my other stuff. I'm not sure, quite
honestly, if this even belongs on an IDM message board...
it's got a lot of IDM elements, breaks, and acid... I'm
interested in the feedback on this one.

Creatures

Biggest question... do you guys want me to post more in this
style or stick to more IDMish songs?

you want!

Well I'm going to keep making whatever music I want...
question is what do I post... I don't put all my music up
here

The snare is a bit too distinct from the kick and the pads
at the beginning, it's a bit irksome but seems to settle in
as the track progresses. It's a cool track though. It has
a real retro feel about it. If you replaced you could have
slotted an old school breakbeat in at about 3:30 and it
could have been an early 90s track. As such this means I
like it. I also like when the synth comes in at 4:40
through to the end of the track as well.

I personally would be interested in hearing more stuff of
this nature.

Yeah, the snare is a bit too loud as is the synth at the
end... I have some mastering work to do I know. The total
track will be around 12 minutes long, I have more ideas I'm
working into it so it continues to flow. This track is the
beginning of my live set now, well, when the mood is right

Cool, I'll put up something else later this week

Can you tell I type as I listen?

"If you replaced" should have been deleted :D

Hmmm, i really love the low pad that enters after about 2:30
in, this is nice i like it, it sounds really early warp
records stuff it also has that early nineties acid feel to
it too.

Yes good work I too would like to hear more like this.

what you might do, i dont know what your equipment is
capable of, i only use lame floops and some cheapo kmart
midi stuff

put a LFO over the snare's pitch and cutoff freq (filter
it), and sliiiightly chorus it.. to make it sound less
boring

i dig this kind of repetetive, 'droning' music.. reminds me
of seefeel only without the guitars :)

Sanguine you are the one who did the remix of Ochre's
revolver aren't you?? I need another copy of that track
soooo bad, because I lost the first one.

autechre a lot. wicked stuff.

Sounds fine to me. I haven't heard the entire track yet. I'd
agree with the volume on the snare though its a bit
overbearing. Nice Seefeel er feel to it though.

Like to hear it when its finished. Yeah kinda funky. This
track is really two different feelings in one track. Part
one is Seefeel calm and part two is funky acid. Be nice if
there was some squelchiness on the bass as oppose to the
lead squelch but overall pretty funky. Good bassline and
nice job.

Yeah, will be a lot of time to work this out... the
mastering on the highs, especially the snare, is my first
priority when I get back to studio time. The overall piece
will probably throw into the next gear, 130bpm instead of
120 and get into a harder line, but maybe swell down and
prepare for that later... I'll need to feel it out

By the way... this is my first attempt in my quest to put
the D back in IDM... a lot of my music lately has been
experimenting with House and Breaks, which I'm getting into
quite a bit, going to see Doc Marten on Saturday, love his
live performance. So expect a full album in about 6 months
if everything goes right, will be free to you guys on mp3
and hopefully it'll come on vinyl too. I've had some nibbles
from labels and producers around here... so who knows

Much appreciated.

As far as putting the D back in IDM, I don't think it was
ever there in the first place. But recently I have found
myself making stuff that is more dancy and beaty than ever.

heeeey now. this is superlicious. i agree about that snare
in the beginning being a bit overbearing, but things get
going later on and you don't even notice it anymore. that
bass line is great, it gets tasty around 3:00, and even MORE
tasty at 4:30. it is a little repetative, sure, but
at the same time i don't even mind, and it works for this
track. i'd say very well done, sir. it's been a long time
since i've heard any of your newer stuff. been kindof away
for awhile. just getting back into stuff. heh.

the second half is my favorite.... very intoxicated
sounding.
keep it up.

its sort of boring in the beginning up until the bass comes
in at 2:55 and then it is very funky. i like it, it has a
good early idm/minimal techno (?) feel to it. i agree that
the snare is a soft of loud in the begining, but it fits in
well in the second half of the song. very nice.

i don't think this song is out of place on this board at
all.

In answer to a couple people's replies... the beginning is
drawn out because this is the first track in my set, usually
I'll be throwing some of my own ambient tracks over the
beginning to fill the space as I get the dance floor to feel
MY mood. I don't like continuing another person's set, I
like totally doing my own.

More coming soon
