yeh... i'm still listening to this on the bus.. its pure
magic.

i can understand why none of its on Ultravisitor - a
different vibe but equally rich. (or "tom")

christ its great!

Isn't it just one of the most perfect sets ever?

01 was most likely the interview...you won't miss much, as
it was just tom bragging how great he is...

no, i don't really wanna hear how good tom is. cos if he was
half decent then there would be more than 2 good tracks on
ultravisitor.
i wouldnt mind hearing this set though, if its as good as
peopl e say.only got 56k, so would take sometime for d/l.
i think ultravisitor put me off squarepusher, oh and that
alive in japan cd, which has rubbish sound quality. i mean
yeah have the crowd so its clear its live, but why put the
mic about a mile away in the toilet of the pub nextdoor?
worst position ever, why not use a line out on the mixer??
stop ranting in 5.4.3.2.1. hmmm calm again.

this set was definitely different to ultravisitor, though i
really like most tracks on ultravisitor as well...as for
that live cd...i listened to it quite a bit, and it gives
you perfect idea of what is it like to be in the crowd at
one of his gigs...definitely turned me on even more, to see
him live...ah well, there are plenty of good artists so we
all get something pleasant.

well, I will listen to it anyway i think. I don't like not
liking sp, cos my mates said he was a nice bloke when they
met him, and i like some of his music. perhaps i will like
it. i hope so. generally speaking i prefer other sorts of
music than his style, althoough i can see why lots of people
like it.

i got into pusher's music quite late actually...i loved go
plastic since i've heard it for the 1st time, but before
that, i didn't really like his stuff all that much...i
started appreciating his older albums not so long ago
actually...

His best album imo is hard normal daddy. i really liked
that. there are good songs on feed me weird things too. the
others are ok, but the songs are a bit to 'samey' for me.
i.e. to similar to eachother.

how many squarepusher breezblock setes are there?

offline KEYFUMBLER from DUBLIN (Ireland) on 2004-05-11 03:09 [#01181688]
Points: 5696 Status: Lurker

Nacmat, there are 2 Breezblock sets.

2004: 5 Pure sqarepusher tracks with a jungle flavour. Its
hard to tell how "live" they are though and he defo isn't
playing bass on them. They're a perfect compliment to his
awesome back-to-the-bass Ultravisitor album which displays
his full musical range. It contains all the lements of each
of his previous albums, in a single coherent, sometimes live
format.

1996: A DJ set with some live bass thrown in. He only plays
one of his own tracks "Iambic 5 Poetry" once as an opener.
This then bleeds into some dirty jungle and he throws in
Tiffiny, Micheal Jackson, Care Bears theme song, some gabba,
more jungle, a drum n bass version of Roy Ayres "everybody
like the sunshine", Frank Zappa, a bit of thrash metal and
some weird porn soundbites. Its truly AMAZING and a totally
unique mix with not much attention paid to beat-matching
but rather he just goes witnh his oen energetic logic to
produce a head-banging, hilarious hour-long mix.

On Squarepusher's 1996 set, I believe he opens with "Song:
Our Underwater Torch", which is quite possibly my favorite
Squarepusher song.

are there bad and good quality versions of this?

I got it from ecnadniarb and it says its 320.... but I dont
know

320 is the best one i think...you can check my
d:/unsorted/my documents/mp3/squarepusher/breezeblock folder
and download what's there...it could be a different
version...

I, like JAroen, have 3 tracks of this set (well 1 stream
interrupted by 3 robotic voices saying it's a squarepusher
exclusive). They're about 27 minutes long in total.

How come Keyfumbler talks about 5 tracks? Is tehre an even
longer version available?

Oh, and the set is absolutely fucking awesome. Some of the
best SP I've ever heard.

Awesome set. Agreed. Did the interview take place at Tom's
House? Because they said he played live from his bedroom.

im pretty sure all versions are about 27 minutes...i was
listening to show directly and it lasted only that long.
not sure about those 5 tracks tho...i have 4 (interview + 3
music files).

i downloaded several different versions before i found one
with acceptable sound quality... it's a VBR file at
42 896 453 byte.

that one should be good enough for most people.

yeah, same here

set 1 (especially from 08:46) and 2 (from 5:07) are so damn
awesome. some of the best SP I've ever heard. apart from
tetra-sync and a few other tracks on ultravisitor I don't
like his jazzy stuff that much. I prefer his pure electronic
madness.
