hello, i have recently been studying music theory and chord
progressions and whatnot, and have made this piece (in the
last 4 hours or so). please have a listen and tell me what
you think.

corticalstim - a minor problem

Oh man, that was so 1975 Italian horror-comedy theme music!

Nice track, same kind of style as the other two tracks on
zebox.

I like the way it builds up, the harpsichord sounds work
nicely with the violin sounds, and they do give it a
soundtrack/theme to a game/film quality though I must admit.
The harp? plucking is a nice touch for the end of the
track. Is there anywhere else I can hear your music apart
from zebox?

Not bad but those strings which come in at 1.19 are way too
harsh and abrupt sounding. You need a slightly softer sound.
Not sure whether I'd say it needs anything more. The combo
of the keys and strings is pretty sweet all the same. I'm
enjoying it but I wish the strings weren't so harsh. At the
moment I'm feeling this.

Have been listening to your other tracks Corticalstim.

'el diablos' is very nice. Love its vibe. I'm gutted only
1.40 of it :-(. Damn can you complete it? This track has a
real awesome feel to it. Yeah I was listening to it and
thinking yeah this is groovy. It started off with some
slowmo hip hop beats but built into a 2 step vibe. Great
build up and great vibe to this track. Hope you can complete
it 'cause I'd love to hear a finalised version. Great notes.

what he said.

the strings are just a bit too in-your-face. other than
that, very nice.

i've loved pizzi cellos ever since girl/boy song. :)

thanks for listening

maybe ill work on a "breakbeat" version with some changes to
the instruments - ill try and smoothen out the strings

and 'el diablos' is done for now, i dont plan on extending
it anytime too soon, but if i do i will let you know.

i dont mind the strings at all really

pretty good, i cant really find anything thats bad about
it.. only thing is the synth used in the beginning that
sounds a bit too.. standard

lovely, lovely stuff

This track does sound kinda like a 60s/70s film score
(certainly the early part).

The strings sound too synthetic and just a bit harsh as
result. They need softening. You need strings with less
brightness. They're slightly better now but could be even
better I reckon.

nice track, though indeed a bit too rough around the edges,
loved the pizzicato's.

there was originally no mastering or effects of any kind on
the track

Well come on Man, you did ask us to tell you whether we
thought your edit would sound better. Thats the point of
putting tracks up on the board isn't it? :-(

I love the drums!

sounded very midi-ish, but that just adds to the
FFII-feel...

Strings are just a tad overpowering, drop the gain and it'll
sound much more in line with everything else

Very simple sounding song, but complicated stuff going on.
that's really hard to do well, nice job

A little drawn out for me... just a simple chord change,
even just kicking everything up a third or something in the
middle. I think as is it could be an awesome piece if you
shortened it up, tightened the transitions. Just a tiny
change in the ride cymbol as it plays would be nice too,
that makes it feel more repetitive than it really is since
the frequency is isolated

The pizzi chelli are nifty. Nice track
