Ambsace, this is really good... i especially like those
bladerunnerish-synths that kick in around 1:45. I think
"traditional" (read: artificial intelligence-era) IDM style
is very hard to pull off well, but this is excellent. Your
music definitely benefits from being heard at a higher
bitrate, btw.

Don't really like the notes in this track to be honest. Just
sound a bit limp to me. Production is good overall etc etc
don't know what else to say.

offline fleetmouse from Horny for Truth on 2004-03-21 14:56 [#01112480]
Points: 18042 Status: Lurker

That was good. Even though it has a building-block structure
it goes thru some nice mood swings. Started out kinda "judge
judy has risen from the grave" then went elsewheres.

Good clean production - my only criticism is it gets a
little samey in the last third. I like your ending with just
the one synth voice.

offline evolume from seattle (United States) on 2004-03-21 15:49 [#01112537]

just listened.
my opinion is that it starts out a little boring, and i was
losing interest untill the nice melodies kicked in and then
i started digging it.

so nice work.

offline ambsace from canaDUH. on 2004-03-22 01:35 [#01113110]
Points: 6326 Status: Lurker

ah. cheers, guys. thanks for listening. i heart you lot.

it is a little boring in the beginning, yeah. and kindof
building-blockish. and samey towards the end, yes.
but...well. yes. things i'll have to work on in the future.
because, honestly, that's how all my tracks end up. =/ heh.

i appreciate your time, gentlemen. thanks again. =]

offline Sanguine from San Francisco (United States) on 2004-03-22 06:34 [#01113260]

Oh sweet jesus the reverb... too much too much... muddy
drums except the higher sound, the metallic hat or whatever
it is

If you dropped the reverb I think it would make it sound a
lot better, especially when the pads come in, that just such
a huge sound by itself. The panned percussive melody line is
really nice, good panning at the beginning. Stuff like that
keeps it progressing, doesn't sound too blockish

Yeah, a little too much repetition overall though... you
could take out the bass note in the pad melody and it would
change the mood, then put it back in, stuff like that.
Really subtle changes could

Good stuff, good production overall except for the reverb
but that may just be a personal problem. I don't know.

Anyways, good stuff... keep it coming

offline staplemouth on 2004-03-22 07:21 [#01113309]
Points: 556 Status: Lurker

yeah i love the pads at 1:45 onwards, and that drip-drop
melody. Works really good together.

I dont love the drums myself. They have too much reverb for
my liking, and a little repetitive with no turnarounds or
breakdowns or anything.

But overall i reckon its pretty mad. All the elements work
well together. Good stuff :)

offline ambsace from canaDUH. on 2004-03-22 12:29 [#01113714]
Points: 6326 Status: Lurker

the thought had occured to me, as well, about the reverb
being a bit excessive. i guess that's something that could
easily be fixed (beats have never been any kindof strong
point of mine. this is actually the most effort i think i've
ever put into them. hah).

anyways, i really appreciate the feedback, mr. sanguine. mr.
staplemouth. especially the honesty. cheers. =}

It isn't bad dude, the reverb is a bit heavy but that really
dosen't matter that much.

offline Skink from A cesspool in eden on 2004-03-22 14:17 [#01113886]
Points: 7483 Status: Lurker

I need to finish...

But my only problem with the track was that it didn't hold
my attention for long enough, there was too little going on
for me, but, with a little more work i think this could be
excellent!

haha. a little reverby, but i didn't mind them, either.
hehe. i've already gone back and fixed a few other things.
i've decided that i really, actually don't spend enough time
with my tracks before i call them "finished".

offline handoverthecart on 2004-03-22 16:20 [#01114075]
Points: 2017 Status: Lurker

i like it. it reminds me of early autechre, especially in
the bass part. a lot. i guess i agree with everyone else
that it is rather heavy on the reverb on the drums, other
than that it is very nice in my opinion. :)

offline morguean from Calgary (Canada) on 2004-03-22 16:46 [#01114116]
Points: 1328 Status: Regular

I didn't mind the reverb at all because it sounds rad when
the drums take a break halfway through. overall its a good
track~!!

and i agree it sounds sooo much like autechre at first
because of that bassline.

p.s. which of you isnt in calgary anymore? ambsace or
corrupted
