Buttkicker

"The ButtKicker is a small, linear motor, which reacts to
an audio signal sent by an amplifier. It is similar to a
loudspeaker, but instead of moving a cone, and transferring
sound waves through the air, it attaches to seats and
floors, and sends low frequency sound directly into the
listener's body. The effect is amazing."

So... anyone got one?
I want one!

what? What are you talking about?
Don't you want to "feel what you've been missing"?

Wouldn't it make more sense for the output signal to be
attached to a large mechanical leg with a big boot on the
end?

"Using tactile (feeling) energy instead of "audio" The
ButtKicker® Shaker convincingly enhances and reproduces
everything from earthquakes, gunfire, engine rumblings, car
chases, space battles, UFO scenes, large animal rumblings,
bass in soundtracks and low-rumbling bass."

see link for a pic of a buttkicker.

Buttkicker =

An extremely efficient, powerful and true linear
(musical) low frequency transducer and bass shaker, capable
of accurately reproducing the "feeling" range of sound,
(true 5-200Hz).

that would be awesome when playing combat games, quake 3 or
doom would be a lot better!

yeah!
It adds nothing to the sound, and if you put it under a
chair or sofa or couch, it feels like it kicks you in the
butt.
If I had more money I'd buy it instantly.
Also, it has a very little range it works within,
it can shake 3 seats - but no more. If you stand a bit
away,
you won't even feel it.
And that's great. I mean if you live in appartments with
really tiny walls of paper (sortof like I do, I live in a
student dorm)...

have you looked on ebay for a cheaper one?

I haven't checked...
But you also need a special amplifier (or if you already
have a 400 -1500W amplifier. that's why I can't buy it,
yet.
The amplifier costs more than the actual Buttkicker I
think.
Atleast in Sweden.
Also, the buttkickers are (as most, if not all home
electronics) cheaper in the US - but then I'd need a
converter if it is at all possible to use it in Sweden (it's
almost twice as much in some shops).

can't you just pay a small child by the hour to shake your
chair while you listen to music? It would be a lot cheaper.

error.
This is how it was suppose to be:

The amplifier costs more than the actual Buttkicker I

Atleast in Sweden.
"Also, the buttkickers are (as most, if not all home
electronics) cheaper in the US - but then I'd need a
converter if it is at all possible to use it in Sweden."
What I meant is... if I'd buy one in the US then I'd
need a power adaptor...

that's what I do now.
But it just won't do.
I have a sub aswell. But if I turn it up too high my
neighbour will complain...
Also I think the buttkicker feels very different from a sub.

Have you ever felt this sort of experience before or is it
just something you think you would like to feel? I would
imaging it would be something like going to a cinema with
huge speakers (the ones that you can feel in your chest).

Never felt a buttkicker.
I am just imagening what it might be like, from what I have
previously experienced in massive soundsystems (like you
mentioned the speakers in cinemas, and such)...
I like the fact that it will just add feeling, and from what
I understand, no sound whatsoever.

Yeh, must be like sticking a vibrator up your ass or
something :p

I wonder if this is a spin of from that technology that the
Army developed, the sound gun, I think it has been posted
here a few times over the last 8 months. The use of very
low frequency waves to make people sick, urinate, defecate,
and possibly stop their heart.

Here's one at e-bay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=308398...

it costs US $539.99 which is around 4000 SEK.
Which is really CHEAP, comparing to what they cost in
Sweden.
This is for bouth the Buttkick + the amplifier.

yeah I read some posts about that one.

I would really like to try a buttkicker,
to see what kind of impact they have,
and if it's worth the cash.

though this "dude" (or "dudette") only ships to 48 American
states.
And I don't live in any of them.

Maybe some kind soul here will buy it on behalf of you, and
then ship to you. I would if I lived in the US and you gave
me the cash.

yeah.
that'd work.
but then I'd have to be sure that it works here,
and that I can get a decent power adapter.
But I'd like to try one out first,
so I know what I am getting.
I don't think I'll be able to get a hold of a buttkicker
in Skövde, so it'll be a thing for the future (spring) or
something.
I hope spring is here soon.

Spring? looks like the middle of winter here at the moment,
i think it is safe to say that we have fucked up this planet
good and proper.

It would be nice to try one before you buy, it is a shame
there are no offices for the company near you.

true, the sun rises closer to the East now and earlier. But
it is hard to fully appreciate it when the sky is full of
grey rain clouds.
