sonic 3 & knuckles

undoubtedly the greatest 2d platform game of all time. i
just beat it today, which is probably the 30th time i've
beat it in my lifetime.

no other side scroller games achieved this amount of depth
or speed or sheer size of the levels. something about this
game makes it fun every single time you play it. i could
just as easily start over from the beginning right now.

a must-play game for everyone on the planet. if you have
never played it, speak up and i will upload the emulator and
rom for you.

I havn't played sonic3+knuckles in a long time, but when I
put in the sonicknuckles cart with no other attachment, it
didn't seem as fun as it used to be. However, the "secret"
game that results when you put sonic1 on the cart and press
all 3 buttons and start is awesome. There are supposedly
thousands of levels on that.

I'm playing sword of vermillion for genesis right now. It's
a fun loooong role playing game in a more simple vein.

I have actually not played it through, what I know.
I think I've played through Sonic 2 (which is also a great
game),
but I dunno about the rest.
I really like platformgames, so I guess I must give it ago.
Any suggestions on what EMU is the best?

g-g-g-gay.

I tried to find some sonic on knuckles gay porn to prove my
point, but I failed. Rest assured, it's out there
somewhere.

i love sonic 3 (& knuckles or not!)... =)
hydrocity zone was so cool, and the music too (one of my
favourite classic video game musics, along with the corneria
theme in starfox among others)...

but i couldn't beat sonic & knuckles, even with using the
freeze/defreeze function of the emulator like a mofo there
was a passage i couldn't pass through in that bloody fucking
Sandopolis 2 level (inside the pyramid)... a switch i had to
push which would open a door but it would close too fast
before i could get to it, there was a big gap between the
switch and the door... and i couldn't find a way to block
the switch, there was a block which could have been used for
this but it was at a lower level... blah.

rudster > yes, super mario world is definitely a classic...
great game... but it isn't as "cool" as sonic, the
ambiance isn't as fun and speedy and all... (i used to like
one as much as the other though, or even SMW more!)

dariusgriffin & w M w > congratulations for your avatars,
that's efficient uglyness!! =)

sonic was a much different type of platform game than mario.
i much prefer speeding through the levels as fast as i
possibly can than the standard mario jump from platform to
platform, repeat. sonic also had a variety of paths, on
certain levels you'd have about 5 different ways to go all
layered on top of each other. and of course, hyper sonic
mode with all the chaos emeralds. fun++

uzim -> i remember that. i think the part your thinking of
actually has multiple switches to control that door, and you
have to push it with a block so the door closes half the
speed as normal. however, since every level has multiple
paths, i did not encounter that part when i played today.
so, i suggest playing again, chances are you'll end up doing
the level differently.

maybe he's talking about the bit at the very end where you
have to go up and hit that thing that fills the level up
with sand, then you push the block over to the switch and
face the boss

Hey!! Don't get me wrong I liked Sega. I just never owned
one so I didn't have the chance to get into any games
properly.

missed out on all the super mario stuff (this is what
emulators were made for). I meant you no disrespect mr
xammax sir. *doffs cap*

hmm, anyway i'll try the level again since i reformated
since (and i only play on emulator), so i'll have to start
the game again from the beginning =)

multiple switches?
yeah that must be the thing i've missed...

because i couldn't block the switch, the block was on a
moving band below the level of the platform where the
switch was (and you can't raise a block)! (or maybe i missed
something?)

This is actually really difficult playing without a pad..
and it's well harder than Super Mario World too, shit that
game WAS for babies.

I think the deal was you had to bump one of those things
that filled the level up with sand, it'd raise the block to
the right level and then you could block the switch with it.
If i remember correctly anyway.

Sonic and Knuckles blew me away at the time. I never
actually bothered connecting it to one of the other games,
though.

The tragedy with the Sonic series is how amazingly awesome
the music was for Genesis... and how horrible it is now, all
metal guitars and synths and contaminated with cutesy
voices.

Mario > Sonic, though.

i uploaded a track from sonic cd, it's only 1 meg, check it
out:

the music for this game was the best of the sonic series,
and better than most game music i've ever heard.
considering the original release date for this game is also
1993, the style of music is pretty ahead of it's time.

12 thumbs up.

Holy shit. That's awesome. I never got a chance to play any
Sega CD games, and there's a few that I regret missing.
Eternal Champions 2, Sonic CD, Silpheed, Snatcher, etc.
