I'm totally in the dark. What the hell is this stuff? What makes Craig David "two step garage" and not weak r & b? I have no idea what defines this genre.

It's kind of a fusion between modern RnB Drum n Bass and House i guess.
What defines it is the studering beat, something you can achive with various shuffle settings(30- 50% ????) and sub basslines. Many Two Steep producers are actually using Fruity Loops because of it's shuffling features that can be used over the whole song.
I don't care much for this style cause most of the tracks are real cheesy but there are some real bassline murda ones that is ok.
PS. I spell like a retard today, sorry!!!!

right here goes, Nicky Black market of black market records (a dNb label) invented it at his shop to get house heads into dNb but like all things it went wrong and people nicked all the good things from oldskool and jungle which change some junglist to house cadets, but i just blame to kids of today for fusion rather than free style but then i think why does it matter.
hope this helps

So... what would be a good nonvocal track that clearly displays the typical beat that defines the genre? Just something I could download real quick.

I cant think of any non vocal cause i don't listen to it that much but i like Sticky feat Miss Dynamite "Booo!"
Miss Dynamite is a talented mc, she sings nice to. To bad she hangs with the less talented So Solid Crew. I was in Aya Napa this summer and got brainwashed whit garage for two weeks.
They even had djs and mcs at the beach pumping that shit all day with giant speakers.
Aya Napa must be like the Uk Garage Capitol of the world.
