sound weapons
I heard about this a while ago when it was invented. You can send sound in a beam kinda so it can hardly be heard outside the narrow trajectory. What the laser did for light, except this is for sound.

This is something that I heard about awhile back as a possible weapon for police to use on rioting protestors. The upside is that it is a soft weapon because sound doesn't do any real damage to the body. The downside is that the previous sentence is pretty much bullshit, it could potentially cause severe hearing damage.

they had one of those at an art/music thing I went to in Paris a bit back, it was a high frequency that occured as you were two metres from the door. It was funny watching people queue through it!
