...thanks to Sepix's live mixes.

So i went out and got "Chocolate Wheelchair" and i bloody
loves it! "its about time"... "herbie"....."1 2 3 4.." etc.
brilliant and fun, dynamic, banging, varied, etc

anything similar out there? I saw him at ATP last year and
he fucking blew me away but i've been too poor since to
bother getting one of his multitide albums... now i'm not
and so i'll get em all. Whats closest to CW?

i think you'll like 'Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits
1972-2006' also,
my personal favs are 'Winter In The Belly Of A Snake', 'Find
Candace' and 'Songs About My Cats'

i love all his stuff! get everything!!! :)

yep.. i think Sepix mixes in a good bit of "'Higgins Ultra
" and i likes a lot...

i remember over the years reading here and at WATMM lots of
threads of about Snares vs Squarepusher but i love em for
different reasons. Thers no way they rival each other -
quite complementray in fact.

anyone got any news on that chick who sang live with Funk at
ATP? She was great.....

I reckon Kid606, Hvavrski, Knifehandchop, are "similar"....
Am i right?

with that i mean i think 'higgins' is closest to CW, they
both have a lot of cut-up breakbeat stuff and some 'funny'
tracks (e.g. dance like you're selling nails)
find candace and doll doll doll are albums which don't have
those 'good vibes' going on but are very good, if not better
imo
witboas and the new album (june 2004) seem to be more
focussed on clicks/bips beats and melody which i personally
enjoy a great deal

kid606 has a lot of crazy stuff, he works with fast
breakbeats but throws gabba (/gabber) in also, it's often
kind of messy and unserious imo, i can only enjoy his last
album 'kill sound before sound kills you'. his stuff is not
as hard and complex a snares' stuff,
hrvatski's isn't either, from what i heard by him, his album
'swarm and dither' had some good tracks but a lot of strange
wank also imo
explore i'd say :)

my favs are:

songs about my cats
doll doll doll
winter in the belly...

also making orange things, but its nowhere similar to
wheelchair

I am new to snares too, but I am really obsessed about his
music nowadays

Venetian snares says in this documentary; "he's recorded sex
with a girlfriend and made a record off it, anyone know what
record?"

yo if you want to listen to something similar to vsnares
check out some stuff on the hymen label musicians such as
scorn, Xanopticon, gridlock, beefcake, actually they all
have their own sound, but are all very enjoyable to listen
to

also check out Cdatakill

i think chocolate wheelchair is the best so far.... tho i've
only heard a few songs off of dolldolldoll, and none from
making things orange....

i'm sure it is, it's not that old and a lot of people
considered it a rather boring release compared to the rest
of his stuff,
it's only the idea 'it's made of only sex sounds' that would
make it a bit interesting, but then again, the sounds have
been distorded so much that you can't recognize the
originals samples anymore (in most cases)
i haven't bought it, i find his other stuff much more
interesting

It sounds like any other vsnares.. the drum sounds might as
well be usual drum sounds.. it's basically a normal snares
album with grunts and pants instead of people talking about
ghosts and rapists, ooh! It is as shit as usual.

im kind of getting out of vsnares...i just never listen to
it anymore. i guess there's just plenty of music that i
enjoy more. maybe im just not in a mood for snares. i'd love
to see him live again tho.
