i just came from the dentist, and I just want to thank whoever invented anaesthetics! I doubt he'll be browsing this MB, but I have no other place to express my gratitude.
While they were using the coarse drill, i could hear pieces of my tooth crack off, and then I could feel them hit the other side of my mouth.. really hard...

oh yes, thanks goodness for anaesthetics!! °_°
i had my wisdom teeth removed last year... from the two top ones it was very easy, but for the bottom ones it was really difficult - especially for the bottom left one, the dentist was completely exhausted at the end, he needed almost an entire hour to get this one out (and another hour for the bottom right one too) - it was growing horizontally and deep inside... i was heavy on painkillers...
it was in august and the hole needed months to grow back, well, it's not even completely closed yet, there is still a little hollow o_O
...i know there are a few cases of special anaesthetic failures, where the patient "wakes up" but only partially, body still paralysed - so you feel all the pain but cannot move nor scream nor anything...
just imagine the horror...
i'm very afraid of that, i always hope when i get operated that they're generous enough with the anaethetics/painkillers (even if i know it's dangerous to have too much)...

Last time, I tried without anaestethic. No big deal. And i hate to walk around like Kramer in that Seinfeld-episode, after I've been at the dentist.

you don't have to walk around like kramer no more. there are fast-anaestethics.. they work in 1min, and wear off after 20min.

that was what I used after i, on a bet, ate a whole garlick, straight up... it tasted like shit, and I smelled garlick for a week! (it actually exits the body through sweat! bad breath was the least of my worries! the bad breath only lasted one day since I drank lots of milk... I don't know if the english "scientific" term is the same, but milk is a "buffer" (it takes a bit to turn it from.. "basic" (?) to "acidic"))

it makes sense really..milk always bounds any aroma to itself so im sure it's going to have at least some effect :) it worries me now that you mention garlic exits through sweat though - what if i start sweating like a pig if she'll have to do some drilling :D

hahaha!
yeah, the sweat is only a problem if you've eaten NOTHING but a whole garlick in one go, though...
sourmilk (this probably has a different name.. I'm not referring to spoiled milk) is even more effective in removing smell, but it's harder to drink... actually, if a smell sets in your refrigerator, you should wash it with sourmilk...
