Best of Vangelis

That's today's purchase - picked it up used for 8 bucks. So
far I like it a lot.

Albedo 0.39 is amazing - makes me feel like I'm at a
planetarium tripping my brain out.

I was looking for those Yes reissues but I didn't see them
anywheres...

Christ for a moment I thought you wrote Best of Yanni...

I own his Bladerunner soundtrack, and I like it a lot... but
you know, when I first listened to the song Metropolis by
Kraftwerk (which I didn't hear till after Bladerunner) I
thought it sounded exactly like the End Titles Theme on
Bladerunner... so I thought Vangelis kinda ripped it off of
Kraftwerk... maybe I'm wrong, but I think they sound very
much alike!

Heh, that's funny - Yanni did a concert at the Acropolis
(probably more than once) and a few years later Vangelis did
a show there, with opera singers and orchestras and choirs
and such... I came across it on PBS while flipping channels
and my first thought was "man, Yanni's looking old, and his
music is better than I remembered..."

Anyhoo the Vangelis acropolis show was pretty good - I think
Jessye Norman was there, can't remember fo sho -

Funkmaster, I also have the bladerunner soundtrack - it's
great but I wish I had the original - he re-recorded the
material and added some songs. Apparently there was a
super-limited edition of the original at one point, with
more of the incidental music. I'd like to have the track
with the clattery chimes when the bicyclists drive past in
the rain.

the only thing I hate about the Bladerunner soundtrack is
that stupid song that is totally out of place right in the
middle... it ruins the whole flow... but other then that the
music is quality...

I think Teapot might've said once that he had a limited
edition of the soundtrack... maybe he has the one you're
thinking of...

I never got the knack of running in slow motion - the air
must be too thin here.

I have bladerunner and 1492 soundtracks. they came together
for only 20 dollars. vangelis is very cool, and i became
addicted to the bladerunner music after playing the video
game. i think that makes me the biggest nerd in here.
NEEEEEEEEEERRRRDDD!

Runner soundtrack... now I'm pissed off.

Yup.. one of my favourite pieces of music, the soundtrack.

Love Theme is truly beautiful. That saxophone is almost
heartbreaking.

my personal favourite is bladerunner blues. as i mentioned i
used to play the computer game of bladerunner. and everytime
your character went to the balcony of his apartment that
music would play. i used to go out there just to listen to
it

Oh i also have a warning maybe for ppl only in australia.
but there is a 'bladerunner' soundtrack floating around the
stores, but its bad. its reworked by the new los angeles
orchestra or some bullshit. its a shocker. i got it
accidentally and i hate it. just a warning

Hm, turns out the "limited edition" was actually a
bootleg.

If anyone ever finds it on slsk, let me know!

memories of green is that track that will always
stand out to me...

i cant understand how my old cassette would have been a
bootleg?? the music was slightly differant... but better
than the 1994 release... but then again, i would have been
about 8 years old... so maybe my fond memories wouldnt be as
fond if i heard it now... would still love to hear it again
tho for sure.

Best of Vangelis is the Bladerunner soundtrack.

No way,. You guys should get ANTARTICA, it's a movie that
Vangelis scored about the same era as Blade Runner. When
you hear the main titles you go "wow that from that movie?"
Everybody remembers that super cool Vangelis theme. It
feels the same as Blade Runner, but switch the sci-fi mood
to chill cold atmospheric ambient.

Its a great CD, and CD stores always have it really cheap
like 10$.

Ive always loved the bladerunner soundtrack.
On hearts of space, they did a one hour retrospective of his
musical career, i loved that one too.
