at The Liverpool Philharmonic

LONDON SINFONIETTA, SQUAREPUSHER, JAMIE LIDELL play Antheil,
Aphex Twin, Cage, Lidell, Reich, Squarepusher, Varèse

Twentieth century masters meet the stars of electronica in
an unmissable event featuring the music of Antheil, Aphex
Twin, John Cage, Jamie Lidell, Steve Reich, Squarepusher and
Varèse, played live by London Sinfonietta. The evening
includes live performances by Squarepusher and Jamie Lidell
alongside new pieces by Aphex Twin and a rare performance of
Antheil’s 1924 modernist classic ‘Ballet Mécanique’
accompanied by Fernand Léger and Man Ray’s film. Plus
specially selected and commissioned videos from Warp and
Chris Cunningham and visuals by Flat-e and Bluespoon.

Looks as though it could be a really interesting night :D!

Indeed it does, lucky you!

I saw Jamie Lidell last year and he was pretty good he does
quite interesting stuff live, i'm not sure i would buy his
album though...

Read it again and it says that there will also be
performances by Jamie Lidell and Squarepusher. I imagine
that it will sound pretty similar to be honest maybe not.

My girlfriend was only saying last week about how she has
always wanted to go to "the phil", so this comes at a good
time.

I'll tell her I'll take photo's for her and let her know
what it was like

my tickets arrived in the post this morning..
looking forward to it.
saw squarepusher live last summer + that was really good.
not seen lidell before + i'm interested in the orchestral
performances of afx, varese, cage + antheil etc.
the graphics + film should just be the icing on a very fine,
moist cake.

re how was it: i loved it some of the stockhausen pieces
were a bit too much but they always are
the john cage pieces were performed perfectly
and mira calix played nanu with full visual :D

re warp: fairly easy the only track that they seemed to fck
was rhubarb (SAWII Disk1 trk3) i thought it would have been
easy to do
