yeah... there's seems to be a relatively well fit together
theory on the whole thing, based on hints that lynch gave
out... i can't recall it right now... and as fun as it is to
draw out these massive interpretations... the two most
important parts of that film for me were:
-when the lesbian faces congeal
-when we encounter that creepy looking ape thing behind the
diner...

just a couple of sheer images that can stand alone without
any narrative framework applied to them.... narrative is
certainly a very good way to approach lynch's work, and film
in general, but it needn't be the only way...

i just saw eraserhead for the first time recently as well. i
thought it was a little boring, but it was still worth
watching for its disturbing quality.

is it really about being a single father? that's something
that popped into my mind while watching it but i figured it
was too obvious.

i thought it was about the nightmares he had about getting a
girl pregnant... (so basically, yeah, the fear of becoming a
father...) but i personally interpreted this narrative about
man in transition between the world of the living and the
dead... i'd have to watch it again to remember exactly how i
worked it...

dozier & deadeight: that was his very brief explanation of
what eraserhead was to him. it took him a second to conjur
that all into one phrase, though, so im sure thats a very
simplified explanation.

pretentious when they didnt get it.
