and it can emulate a 500MHz PII, whereas the most a PC can
emulate is a Mac Quadra!!

they can't even emulate a G3

"yeah
right, shutting down your mac.........it just goes poof,
it's gone"

funny that, because I hardly ever need to shut down my mac
because unlike PC's mac actually has a sleep function that
actually works fast and doesn't crash all the time.

I saw a comparison,
the new AMD 64 bit chip is faster than
your
hardcore "dual 1ghz G4" box.
suck it.

i think xp is a step in the right direction for microsoft
though. all their other platforms were way too buggy. it's
my favorite so far.

i have such a hard time using computers without a right
click. you don't know what you got till it's gone.

think. mac used to be too but in a nice way, +now theyve got
unix they're fucking awesome.
m$ users constantly bait macheads cos they're so envious i
reckon :)

lol, yeah ok

did you actually know that id Software are NATIVELY coding
DOOM3 on Apple hardware and software?

no, you didn't

and for your information DOOM has bgeen available for Mac
since 1995

but Windows XP is a step in the right direction.....just a
shame they had to rip off Mac OS X in the process

substantial information about the opposition

i built PC's since the age of 12, and used them up until i
was 16, and i still play about with PC's, so it's not like i
don't know my shit

They both crash from time to time, PCs are just heaps
cheaper.
But I can't stand how Apple run their company, like
releasing the an old laptop with a slightly bigger screen,
etc.

And too many of the Macs look wimpy, the G4 and those
desktop machines look pretty good, but the iMac? Yuk! that
ones for the girls.

slow? are you judging this on the speed of games? Macs are
designed for actually doing work on. My new mac has NEVER
crashed and is plenty fast enough for my graphics work. Mac
is the standard for most art related work for a reason.

games on a mac... Hell no! :-)
I've worked the last 9 years on a daily basis on a mac
(G3's, G4's) and now a G5. (I'm a graphic desinger). This G5
is only a little bit (and I mean A LITTLE BIT!) faster then
my comp at home,
and that's a PIII, 1Ghz! :-)
(some stuff, like opening big files, is even faster on my
pc!)

I second that motion. My mac is fast and stable. I work the
bitch to death with graphics all day adn not one crash since
OS X.

i'm sorry, but that's bullshit

a G5 1GHz is the equivalent of at least a 1.5GHz P4 x86
chip.

The only reason why things might be slow on the G5 is if
you've got hardly any RAM installed. Absolute minimum memory
I'd put in ANY machine (Mac or PC) is 256MB RAM. Mac's do
require a bit more though, but that is down to the OpenGL
based rendered GUI.

oh yeah, I forgot to mention that...

Mac OS X - GL rendered Graphical User Interface....ON THE
FLY. Anti-aliasing, Transparencies etc.

What does Windows do? Oh, the menus fade in and out...and
even then it doesn't do that all the time

Anyways, i digress....

I can have Adobe Photoshop 7 open, Reason 2.5, Safari,
GeekTool, FruitMenu, Shapeshifter, Silk, XSounds,

My Dual 2.0GHz G5 with 1 gig of Ram worked great but once I
installed Panther it really boosted the performance.

And yes it's fast, I can have Photoshop saving a document,
Illustrator open, burn a cd and surf on safari all at once.
Sometimes with more apps open in the background.

dual 2gig G5's

i wouldn't use G5 yet though, because i use Virtual PC quite
a bit.....

i'm waiting for the G5 Powerbooks! they're gonna be the

I bought panther quite soon after it came out, and it
boosted my iBook quite considerably.

From what loads of people say, it's the other way around.
But I hate Macs from experience, so I won't use them. Go me.

I hope to get one for home to make music on. I currently
have a g3 at home and it is just not enough anymore.
