i went to Frrance once and on a small strretch of beach some
yobs playing music frrom tha ghetto blastarrs starrted
pulling moonies at us and in no time at all one of the rring
leaderrs was laying into this 50 yearr old guy also on the
beach. so we starrted laying into him and it kinda cooled
down then. we went off one way, them the otherr.
good times.

well - most of them are more or less straight hip hop.
nothing revolutionnary. some nice jazz samples. but as you
say: its all about that french lyrical flow innit?

i tend to find that (like most hip hop) the tunes work
better individually than entire albums. hiphop has a nasty
tendancy to fall foul of unfunny skits + filler material,
which is why i didnt list many albums.
solaar's paradisiaque record holds together alright.
the nubians record is nothing especially inventive. but the
girls have nice voices + the breakbeats fit in nicely around
the melodies. i don't listen often. but (as i said) it has a
background/candle-lit-dinner-with-girlfriend feel to it.

i dont generally buy hip hop albums (mainly for the reasons
ive already mentionned) - but the artists whose tracks ive
listed are meant to have some decent lps. saian supa crew's
'x-raisons' comes highly recommended by a few hiphop-centric
friends of mine.

iam did the soundtrack to 'taxi' (written by luc besson) |
which (if youve seen the film) sounds quite good.

started downloading that les nubians album and it simply
sounds like some french pop girlband... ugh. no hiphop there
:/

i did try to tell you it was girly.
maybe its only the tracks ive heard that were less girly..
maybe theyre off a different album.. maybe i heard remixes.
but the rest of the stuff IS hiphop.. i promise

and it's funny this, but it's also trrue that it was the
same week France won the worrld cup. i watched the match in
my hotel rroom and when they'd won rrows of carrs werre
rriding past the hotel with women on the carr bonet's etc...
therre werre at least two girrl who got theirr tits out.
good fun. we thrrew the porrno playing carrds out of the
window.
