Does any know what sound makes that glidey dubby bass that
Squarepusher uses a lot? You hear a lot if it in the
Ultravisitor track. Its really cool

it's the pitch envelope on that bass sounds that makes it
sounds so glidey.
dunno where it comes out though but try
using a sine wave and put on some distortion and experiment
with eq then record that sound and import that wav file into
absynth. there you can edit your pitch very easy.

He played it live when I went to see him. He plucks and
strums the fucker while sliding his fingers over the
frets...you have never seen anyone play a bass so fast in
your life. He was amazing.

It's Tom playing the funk LIVE which goes through an
Eventide H3000.
H3000

that's how it sounds 'FM' sounding, the Eventide thing is
amazing and tight at processing using pitch and volume to
trigger allsorts.

thanks.

There was a small clip doing the rounds but it was a bit
blurry and I never bothered keeping it.

I don't think the sound you're talking about is triggering a
synth via midi, the Eventide is brilliant at pitching and
fannying around with sound, you could talk into it and sound
like a flute or a waterfall. They've just finished making a
plug in version of it which works really good too.

Well you could see him standing there OK, you couldn't see
his hands properly because they were blurred with the
speed...I think the video must have been done on a mobile
phone.

That sounds very interesting :D!!!! ...any idea when
the plug in is out? My dream in life has been to sound like
a waterfall.

yeah that plug-in sounds cool. I've tried one of those
audio-midi triggers for guitar, and they are pretty cool
too. I plugged it into my 303 and got my guitar to play a
mad synthy sound!

Jivver you don't know what that pad thing he uses is do you?
I think it is a pad anyway, he was isolating sections of
audio and then messing about with realtime time stretching
and pitch shifting. Probably something similar to the Kaoss
pad?
