well, you should have some classics, like from The Clash and
Ramones obviously. I'd take a look at Fat Wreck Records and
Epitaph in terms of labels - those are two main ones that
deserve some recognition.

Hot Water Music is the best hardcore punk there is. Thrice
is good too, as is Recover.

virginpusher: do you want hardcore/punk stuff or metal?

you probably want hardcore punk stuff, if so check out
hatebreeds first cd, earth crisis "breed the killers",
strife, extreme noise terror, disrupt, cripple bastards,

there is a fine line between all this and grind... if you
wish contact me through email or on AIM sometime this
weekend and I can literally tell you dozens of good names to
download and check out.

isnt hatebreed's first CD "under the knife"? That one with
the monkey on it?

Yeah i preferably need more punk though. And to point out
that i would like some older suggestions as in 80's and
nothing that sounds EMO.

Post them all and i will attempt to download them when i am
around.

Converge-Jane Doe.... You can find everything there... death
metal, brutal hardcore, emo, noise rock.... first 3 songs
are mindnumbingly destructive.

Modern hardcore is in my opinion the best expression of
sonic violence.

Except for noise ofcourse but the feeling is totally
different. And ofcourse modern hardcore has nothing to do
with 80's hardcore.

Deadguy, playing enemy, today is the day(well not really
they rule though), stuff on hydrahead records, stuff on
escape artist records.... All of this though is too far from
the conventional hardcore genre... Isis are more like
psychedelic sludge... Their first album is goooooood.

I hate punk... I haven't heard a whole lot I guess, but what
else can you do? I hear about a punk band who is supposed to
be excellent, and yet they sound just like all other punk
bands... pretty boring in my opinion!

...

CoC is indeed tops, i'm wearing my shirt with pride, heh.

it seems that you're talking about hardcore (as in
old-school punk) and hardcore (metal) which are two totally
different things. hardcore/old-school punk bands you should
check out: Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Germs,
Scratch Acid, Flipper, Dicks, MIA, Misfits, Articles Of
Faith, Bad Brains, Melvins, Sex Pistols, Wire, Angry
Samoans... there's a lot more, but i can't remember right
now.
