Okay.. so my friend Christopher buys a book and CD of one
of 'the Ultra Zone' without any guitar .. i.e. instructional
tool. we listen to that, and it blows us away.. so I buy
the real thing and it's great too! I had heard of him and
Joe Satriani for some time but didn't realize what they were
all about until now.
I was surprised at the amount of haters there are. My
roommate saisd he couldn't get into 'those instrumental
thrash guitarists' and my suitemate and his friend made
sounds of disgust when I metioned the names. But then
again, they're a Mod and 2 Rockers respectively so I don't
care what they say.
Between Steve Vai and Coheed and Cambria, either I'm
expanding my horizons.. or my taste has competely gone to
shit. Opinions?

cheese. rank, horrid cheese.

you should be ashamed. steve vai did the guitar sounds in
both bill and ted movies.

yeah. you're prolly right. I know it's pretty bad. My
roommate told me last night about how the only thing he
liked my Steve Vai was the reaper themes from Bill & Ted.
But anyway.. I just find it ridiculously enjoyable. It's
like cheesy rock but without all the lyrical bullshit.
Soemthing about instrumental rock just appeals to me,
whether it be in one of its legitimate forms (math rock, art
rock, etc) or not (instrumental thrash guitarist)

Steve Vai is nice... but I enjoy Buckethead more.

i have enjoyed alien love secrets. it's just too much ego.
maybe not enough emotion, id prolly puke if i listened to
that ballad now. sounds can be pretty advanced, due to
technique.
what have you listened to anyway? without any guitar ..
i.e. instructional
tool
