this came out late last year... the more i listen to it the more beautiful i find it... Suchy is a guitarist kind of in the same realm as Fennesz... this album has some really interesting noisy guitar glitch-fests along with some really delicate acoustic tracks, where his somber melodies weave through minimal electroacoustic architecture... as much as it bears a strong affinity to the work of a lot of the other noise ambient fellers... i can't shake the comparison to Six Organs of Admittance's album "Dark Noontide"... well worth finding... (and while you're at it, you might want to check his new collaboration with Ekhard Ehlers, and Franz Hautzinger called "Soundchambers"... i'm still trying to find this one...) |

i'd just like to add... i found Soundchambers yesterday... and it's fuckin' gorgeous... it's basically Ehlers manning electronics, while Hautzinger plays the trumpet, and Suchy's on his guitar... so gorgeous... there are moments of insane abstraction, and there are moments, where Hautzinger trumpet swoops about lke Miles on bitches brew... and why the fuck did i spell Ekkehard wrong in the above post?! in any case... try and find it... probably the best Ehlers release i've heard... (and i know there are fans of him here...) |

bump this thread cause i've been listening to both these albums (calabi.yau and soundchambers) all night long... beautiful fuckin' stuff... if anyone's interested in the Joseph Suchy album, i'd share it right now on slsk... any uber-adventurous ears? (it's messed up and all... but beautiful) |
