Conspiracy Theory

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-12-16 20:26 [#00061436]

In response to the Bin Laden topic and tons of others we've
had on this board, I am going to propose a small breakdown
of conspiracy theory which I have formulated in my mind
since Sept. 11, and before that too.

Let's look at the company Symantec, most well known for
Norton Antivirus software.

Lets look at it this way.

Symantec wants money.
Symantec gets its money from computer Viruses (Viri?)
Symantec wants computer viruses to exist.
Symantec CREATES computer viruses.

Is it so farfetched? Computer viruses these days are
extremely advanced and take massive amounts of effort to
program successfully. Are they all made by kids who want to
spend months of their childhood programming something to
destroy other people's computers just so they can make a
name for themselves? Maybe some are, but is it possible
that there are rooms full of techies getting paid in the
high 5 figures to create viruses that fuck people's
computers and right in the next room are people designing
the patch which deletes it? Maybe they aren't even
different people in differen't rooms! There is no doubt in
my mind that in the early days of the internet when people
were making these viruses that wiped out whole networks and
people were frantically figuring out how to fix them someone
thought, hey, why don't we make money curing these viruses?
Can we be so sure that they stopped making the viruses?

Now if we can say that Norton loves computer viruses; Can we
say Bayer loves Anthrax? Think about how much Cipro they
sold. I think we can, but can we go as far as to say that
they secretely had some part in it? I'm not sure we can
preclude it.

Since we are all well aware that the American Government
loves power and the opportunity to take away civil
liberties. The American government has doubled its power,
taken away our freedoms and at the SAME TIME has pushed its
public support up to 90%! The national anthem reinforced in
public schools, tiny flags flying off the antennas of every
car. Does the American Government love Sept. 11? They
definately love the opportunity it presents. You see where
I am going with this.

In terms of news and media:

Do you remember how 2 years ago, you would see at least once
a week the video of a freaky looking Michael Jackson almost
in tears saying that he didn't molest any little boys. Now
that Michael Jackson is making a comeback and a new album,
it isn't profitable to show that any more. They make more
money airing positive things about Michael Jackson, and you
don't see that video on any channel ever! The media and the
music industry can make more dough by selling records and
airing concerts, so none of them show it. There must have
been some kind of agreement within the media on this fact.
The fact that noone ever mentions anything about the old
accusations.

This is just one of infinite examples of media giants
obviously working together to generate the most profit.

The only question that remains is, are people smart enough
to really excercise and cover up these kinds of
conspiracies? Maybe things just fall into place naturally,
or maybe there are 6 guys sitting around a conference table
deciding exactly what each network will air or not air on
the news each night.

There is no doubt that we only see the tip of the iceberg of
what is really going on.

Anyone who actually took the time to read this: thanks, and
let me know what you think.

i believe if you can think of something it has most possibly
happened that way or will do. i keep thinking things are
real and they happen.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-16 20:55 [#00061457]

....

Did you type all that?

munkeys got answers from frocksgiht on 2001-12-16 21:02 [#00061462]

I had a job renting cars to crash victims (seriously...)
and when the weather was icy and shitty,
my boss would come in rubbing his hands, saying shit like
'goldmine weather out there today...mmm I love shitty
weather!!'

so yes from first hand experience,
you need a negative situation to create the demand for
positive
response

you need fear to create the need for a more powerful
government
you need weaknesses to bolster the military economy
you need enemies to create inner-unity.

so yes, the way you think is interesting. I am inclined to
agree theres a possibility......

incidentally in the UK a government press officer was
demoted recently after it was revealed that in a memo she
had described September 11th as 'A good day to bury bad
news" (unemployment figures etc..). Really, thats what ALL
politicians were thinking, but she was a good scapegoat to
show the public how 'Sensitive' and 'Caring' the government
was to the suffering in New York....

...Fuckers!!!!

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-12-17 02:25 [#00061549]

"you need fear to create the need for a more powerful
government
you need weaknesses to bolster the military economy
you need enemies to create inner-unity"

Right on man. Ever read 1984?

That's crazy shit btw, can you explain the renting cars to
crash victims thing? I'm just curious

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-12-17 02:25 [#00061550]

And yes ophecks, I typed all that.

Mutant Death Pengwin from Medicine Hat on 2001-12-17 02:32 [#00061555]

xanatos, your conspiracy theory is so scary because it all
rings so true! i would not be surprised if you are dead on!
but the fbi and cia are tracking you down right now and
they will brainwash you. the next time you post you will be
expressing your new found love for the backstreet boys and
britney spears. i am glad that i got to meet the
unbrainwashed xanatos.
if i like cookies, will the canadian government brainwash me
to only eat quebec maple syrup?

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-17 02:33 [#00061556]

Well said, all that, but I don't really care, personally. I
mean, intelligent and valid points and all. Maybe I'm just
dumb, or naive, but I never concern myself with things like
that.

Mutant Death Pengwin from Medicine Hat on 2001-12-17 02:45 [#00061564]

you are lucky you are naive. i spend everyday looking over
my shoulder wondering if the canadian secret service is
after me for quiting my job as a lumber jack and for me call
a toque a hat.

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-12-17 02:50 [#00061565]

"I never concern myself with things like that"

Yeah, you're right, let's talk about the things that really
matter to us. So, how tall are you guys?

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-12-17 02:52 [#00061566]

I'm just kidding Ophecks, you know I love you.
Not like in the way man loves a woman, but like a man's love
for a fine cheese.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-17 03:01 [#00061571]

You're 5'9'' , 5'10'' aren't you?

Well, would you ever consider wearing platform shoes? Chicks
like taller guys, y'know...

And I'm touched that you think of me as fine cheese...
sniff... I love you, man...

:-D

Mutant Death Pengwin from Medicine Hat on 2001-12-17 03:01 [#00061572]

xanatos, i love you like i love ice cold molson canadian, so
you should be more than a bit worried

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-17 03:07 [#00061578]

My love for ALL of you is morbidly unhealthy.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-17 03:16 [#00061580]

Quadrapelegicrobotikev from mp3.com/quadrapelegicrobotik on 2001-12-17 03:30 [#00061596]

here's my supporting info,
the media is in fact owned by a few corporate companies, two
of them being Time Warner and G.E.(general electric for you
not so sophisto's)

I have learned about how pop culture is controlled in my
"Pop Culture" class. It was very factual and entertaining.

GE for instance makes lots of money off the news. They own
many channels and stations that produce the news. In fact,
a few years back, GE's workers were having an immense
campaign and strike for better wages and such. GE not only
censored the world's knowledge of this strike but never let
it be known, simply by not reporting it. Since few
companies control the media which we see daily, they do not
wish for us to see things which pertain negatively to them.

The news is especially evil. All of the reports you see are
false. They even predict the weather incorectly only to
catch the eyes and ears of their viewers. They purposely
predict things in biased ways to sway the opinion of the
viewer for entertainment purposes only. The news can be
seen as an entertainment program only. Even newspapers are
controlled by these companies, magazines too, even the
internet.

Thus I wish to show you all, if you have not been shown
already; that the world is being controlled by a few massive
corporations. Is this what we want.

I have norton antivirus...and i must say that the program is
in fact a virus. For one thing it controls the actions of
all of your other programs and will in fact interupt them at
every possible chance it gets. It especially irritates me
during music making sessions. It will interupt saying that
a crash is in progress during simple beat editing. Plus,
the program is virtually impossible to remove from your
computer. Try removing it sometime, your computer will not
run properly and will ask for certain missing files during
normal operations.
Thus i think that the conspiracy theory presented in this
post is highly likely.

good ridens

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-12-17 03:36 [#00061607]

^ Thanks, although the Norton thing was just an example used
to prove a point, I think what you are saying is true.

I do believe certain mediums are a little better than other.
For example I feel that the internet is a lot more free
than TV, but its not as easy to find reliable information.
I have a feeling that to cover up conspiracies, people are
hired to put up websites with totally outlandish ideas to
turn people away from any plausible theories on what's
really going on. This helps to force the public make the
association from not following the normal beliefs with being
insane. This makes the real truth more difficult to seek,
which is just the way they want it. Even now, as you are
reading this, you probably feel "well, that's a little
crazy, I mean, people acting crazy on purpose to
throw people off the correct trail?" And just in thinking
that, all their efforts are successful. See what I'm
saying?

Scary Bear on 2001-12-17 12:12 [#00061775]

I will add nothing more. There is a phat lot of reading up
there, reccomended to all men, women and children.

The whole problem in a nutshell.

My media studies teacher has many mates in the media. When
millions where in shock about September the 11th all his
mates working for the BBC had a big get together and bought
expensive champaigne. Now they're minted.

The fact that I'm paranoid doesn't mean I'm not being
followed.

crayon_kid from the inner reaches of your soul... on 2001-12-17 18:47 [#00061855]

i dont think you people are ever going to come to an
agreement in this arguement.

the conspiracy theorists are being called 'paranoid' and the
people trusting in america are being called 'close minded
patriots'.
the fact is, paranoids dont know they are paranoid and
patriots dont think they are close minded.

look, in the end we all die, so please stop wasting time
fussing over something like this

or you can just go on being mad at eachother about what you
believe/dont believe.
your choice

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-17 18:51 [#00061858]

I agree with Crayon Kid.

And we're ALL useless and insignifigant. But the thing is,
we live in a GREAT country (countRIES, really). You have
internet access... you're very spoiled... shut up and enjoy
our unfair wealth. I do.

hevquip from 45 angry wasps throats on 2001-12-17 18:56 [#00061863]

my conspiracy: osama is actually jesus and he's trying to
bring about judgement day. the military must stop osama
jesus because no one wants to die and be judged just yet.

I am unfairly lucky.

I found Allah. Hiding in the back of this little cave of

I suggest you guys play through Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of
Liberty because it touches on things similar to this.

Spoiler

The game talks about how there is a group of actual leaders
called The Patriots that regulate everything, even the
presidential election. They delete things from history and
add things from history as they see fit. How do they do
this??? Well one of their techniques was by creating the
hype on the Y2k bug and by sending a program to fix this bug
to almost every business used computer. I kinda forget
everythign else but i really suggest you guys check this
game out.

hevquip from 34.5307 jaws of minks on 2001-12-17 22:50 [#00061956]

yeah, i beat mgs2:sol not too long ago. i was kind of bummed
that the game didn't play out as well as i was hoping. at
least you can tell there will be a sequel.

Green Calx from Richard D. James on 2001-12-17 23:08 [#00061964]

Incidentally, though the hidden elite that may or may not
have control over the world have been called many things,
and many different sets of intentions, there does truelly
seem to be certain patterns and characteristics of those
that may or may not enact these conspiracies.

Though I don't want to get into the various conspiracies
I've been reading about, I've got an author that might be
noteworthy and perhaps even a bit funny if you're into this
sort of thing
... Try:

Robert Anton Wilson: Cosmic Trigger and the Illuminatis!
Trilogy (With Robert Shea) - Actually all of his books are
informative, or misinformative, if nothing else!

munkeys got answers from freakouter on 2001-12-18 00:28 [#00061988]

HAHAHA!!! Robert Anton Wilson !!!

thx Green Calx I've read both those books,

the illuminati is funny. Dolphins rule !!
I still prefer `Douglas Adams....

RAW is a bit too 'Celestine prophecy' for me>>>not enough
'real'
humour, too much codswallop... but funny codswallop....

23.

Me and my flatmate (a fellow computing student) had the
Symantec idea a while ago. Your facts were a bit awry
though, viruses aren't that hard to make with a good
toolkit. I've seen the code of "lovebug" and it's less than
four pages long and doesn't do anything that clever.

I agree about the media too, they do have more power than
the government- imagine if all the papers published a new
"law" that hadn't gone through government, what could the
government do? Go round each household on foot and telling
all the people it was unture?

You really have to worry when the communications network
(phonelines etc.) is owned by the same people as the media.
Personally I think it should be a legal requirement that
they're kept apart...

But the virus idea isnt half as scary as.

medical companies.

wouldnt they die if everyone was healthy?

you should change it the other way around like in this old
society i heard of.

the doctor would only get paid when people where well! not
to get them well.

I actually don't know that much about virus/virus protection
software, its more of just a conceptual idea to show a
general point. Thanks for the info though...

medical companies thou... the longer they keep people alive,
the longer these sickly useless people stay alive and keep
going to doctor and buying 12 presciptions, the more they
feed the system over and over... and they breed too, and
their children will grow up and be sick too...

Oh yeah, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty has a fucking
INSANE finish, so many morals and lessons and theories and
ideas... it made my head explode. Why the fuck can't Hideo
Kojima stick to good old fashioned ''spy saves the world''
shit? Would've made a better game without all the self
indulgent pretentious bullshit. But some of it WAS
interesting...
