lirics
Lullaby

On candystripe legs the spiderman comes
Softly through the shadow of the evening sun
Stealing past the windows of the blissfully dead
Looking for the victim shivering in bed
Searching out fear in the gathering gloom and
Suddenly!
A movement in the corner of the room!
And there is nothing I can do
When I realise with fright
That the spiderman is having me for dinner tonight!

Quietly he laughs and shaking his head
Creeps closer now
Closer to the foot of the bed
And softer than shadow and quicker than flies
His arms are all around me and his tongue in my eyes
"Be still be calm be quiet now my precious boy
Don't struggle like that or I will only love you more
For it's much too late to get away or turn on the light
The spiderman is having you for dinner tonight"

And I feel like I'm being eaten
By a thousand million shivering furry holes
And I know that in the morning I will wake up
In the shivering cold

And the spiderman is always hungry...

Ah, not seen the video for that. Jonesy recommended this
track to me and it's a good 'un. I still think "The Forest"
is their best though.

[free-for-all] what would you say are the 'essential' cure
albums?

depressive.

the title track from Bloodflowers is one of the most amazing
Cure songs! Not many bands can go on as long as they have
and still make brilliant music.

the glove - blue sunshine

robert smith and the bass player from siouxsie and the
banshees (steven severin) with female vox (and a few vocals
by robert) doing dark, psychedelic pop, highly recommended.

all of their albums upto 1988 have some gems on in my book

after that - a fat man with back combed hair and wonky
lipstick can not be taken seriously in any way whatsoever

seventeen seconds , pornography and faith (circa 80-82) are
essential in my book

particularly faith which is 10/10

head on the door [circa 86]is a good later poppy album

disintegration [88?]starts well but goes way off the boil

The Gloves blue sunshine [85] is also brilliant like someone
said just now
