I agree our president is a baffoon and I will do everything in my power to see that he is not re-elected, but I simply cannot tolerate nut-jobs flying planes into our buildings or strapping explosives to their person and walking to a subway. If all you panty sniffers in Europe wanna wine about the United States being too agressive in world affairs, just wait until the next attack, when we are hit again and get REALLY pissed. If the US is threatened and we have a President that unifies us, you might as well move the UN to Switzerland and start digging holes. You are right we don't want to see the pictures, we dont want to get used to the fear and if this war on terror ever wakes us up, there is not a spider hole deep enough to hide these anachronistic hate-mongers. And if you think that petrol prices are high now, just wait till we control the taps!

you do understand that your president's actions have done nothing to reduce the threat of terrorism?
that they even have increased the threat?

i'd say destroying the training camps & ousting the taliban was a good step in disrupting the threat... however, al qaeda and friends had plenty of time to build an infrastructure, so it's going to be a long fight.
now, if we can offer afganistan enough aid to build a solid country (which i'm afraid we're not doing) that'll be one less place where those folks can congregate with support of a government.
the whole iraqi thing is still up in the air. i don't think anyone will be able to make a good decision as to whether it helped reduce the threat or not for quite some time. i mean, in the grand scheme of things it hasn't been very long at all. regardless of the apperant fact that saddam did not possess the big guns at the time of our invasion, there's little doubt that he wanted them. and probably would've attained them if the world wasn't breathing down his neck for the last decade plus. and, surely you have to admit that he wasn't too fond of america... and was willing to harm us given the chance.
now... bush's fucking "bring em on" mentality sure as hell isn't helping our image any. that, i think, has caused more damage than both wars combined in my opinion. it's not neccessarily that the wars took place, but his cocky ass attitude that has caused all this resentment of america.
i mean, when people are taking saddam husein's side in moral disputes you know you've got a massive PR problem.

qrtr,
I'm surprised someone like you would make a silly accusation like that; that they have INCREASED the threat.....sadly, I don't think that can be proven...it has only been brought into light.
godataloss from Cleveland, at least Bush isn't afraid to take action. I almost sit in disgust when a President may refrain from an action because it may make him look bad (in the eyes of re-elections) instead of looking at the long term benefits of our country.
avart, you are a tool whom with comments like that, show that you aren't even taking part in the intelligent and respectable debates; instead partaking on your stupid cheap shots in order to somehow stick a fork in the burnt chicken.

btw, would you guys mind moving your comments you would like to discuss into the Defending Iraq, thread?
I wouldn't like 2 threads to get totally out of control.
Thanks in advance,

What does everyone think of that ex-NFL player, Pat Tillman? Got blowed up real good overseas. He turned down a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract in the NFL to join the army for three years with his brother. Regardless of how I feel about the war, I think that took some balls on his part. Turning down a lifestyle like that to fight and die for what you believe in.

Ophecks, I'm actually really agree. I think it's a great story.
Lots of people were bitching because of the news.
The cut away from 2 missing nuclear spent ruel rods to talk about this guy.
Now most people were bitching because obviously the missing rods are a hell of a lot more important than a dead guy, right?
Fuck that.
I think the public needs some good, inspiring stories, instead of being forced into fear everyday about missing fuel rods and the like.
Great story, and I'm glad a lot of news are pushing it.
