'sunshine recorder' in starbucks

heard this BoC track in a local starbucks today. well, one
of the three that's on that street and within 4 blocks of
each other. was very odd. no one knew what i was talking
about when i exclaimed 'wow this is boards of canada' and
asked what cd it was on, if it were an official starbucks
comp or some cd an employee had brought in. in fact i think
the guy that checked what we were listening to told me it
was 'borders of canada'

the girl behind the counter informed me that 'sometimes they
throw pop songs on their cds, its kinda weird'. i gave her
the evil stare. and then ordered a grande white mocha.

i'm such a hypocrite.

They play BoC in my local pub during lunch time, but that is
only because I tell them to.

i've got friends that work there, they just weren't there
today. i get free drinks when they work, and one guy has a
few recipes he made up, using differnt kinds of ice cream
and espresso that's pretty good. so yeah i'm a sellout but
the coffee is usually free ; )

At the coffee shop chain I work at, we have offical comp cds
that we have to play. No board of canada, but there was a
jamiroquai track on there (corner of the earth). It gets
really really really really annoying when you have to listen
to the same 20 songs repeating over and over all day.

Why can't they call them 'regular' and 'large'?

I don't know how the fuck to pronounce 'grande' without
sounding ignorant. grand? or grOnd? Fucking coffee culture.
Yeah, I want a fucking mocha, regular. No caprochino
almondochina frothominto freschente for me.

talking of borders of canada, if a plane crashes on the

survivors?

I hear Radiohead all the time when I go to Zellers or
Walmart to buy games. Never anything with the same obscurity
ranking as BOC, though.

They were playing the video for pyramid song on the monitors
in the H&M on fifth ave. in Manhattan when I was there, my
girlfriend dragged me in. It was....strange. H&M is a
trendy large-scale "hip" clothes store for those who don't
know.

only reason i go to starbucks is for the free coffee. at
work i'll get a small cup of coffee for 73 cents, bitter and
dark as hell but enough to give me my morning pre-cigarette

Starbucks deserves all their success. People like their
coffee - so why do people seem to hate on them so much?
Fuck, if people didn't like Starbucks, they wouldn't be
around. You Starbucks haters are in the minority yo.

I love coffee, but I never go to coffee specialist places
like Starbucks because 1) You need an A-Level in Italian to
order anything 2) There isnt a Starbucks for about 100 miles
radius of my house, yeah thats right virgin country.
As long as its hot and black I'll swallow it.

psss... whatever, anyone who likes going to starbucks sucks
ass. your taking business away from the little guy who makes
better coffee and cares... not some faceless shitty
corporation who pays their workers poorly and makes low
quality shit. .....

its just for people who dont know better, for people that
like coffee but are too small thinkers to actually go
somewhere nice and cozy and privatly run.

1. How do you know that Starbucks treats their employees
poorly? I've never read/heard anything to suggest that.

2. The little guy doesn't inherently make better coffee.
On the contrary, most of the small coffee shops in the close
proximity serve shit - watered down shit.

3. Why so elitist? People know what they like - they're
just not on some crusade to save small coffee shops. I'm
not sure that, in general, they're worth saving anyway.
