I just got this album. Why do they repeat two of the
tracks?

a long long time ago (see: color me badd's CMB) it was
pretty standard to have reprises on albums.

i'm sure there's an important theme the flaming lips felt
the need to emphasize on this album by reprising two tracks
in the form of remixes, and it seems to have worked based on
album sales and critical acclaim

Doesn't Massive Attack's "Mezzanine" use a track called
Exchange twice?

they are different mixes of the tracks.

in one version of "Race for the prize" the drums are more
present, in the other, the mix is more clean and shiny.

you can tell the mixes from the originals by the weird
sunbeam design next to the titles on the back cover.

then at the bottom the sunbeam thing says next to it who
mixed them.

hope this answers yr questions mate.
