Tolstoyed, you can EASILY stay under 1500$ and have an
incredibly kick ass system...

Tell me what you need, do you have a high quality amp/CD
deck/etc

Your system is as good as it's weakest link

I've learned a lot about monitor speakers lately... I once
thought the flatest range would be the best for monitoring,
but you have to compensate for highs and lows in the mix
after you're done for it to sound good on all speakers.

The best way to get monitor speakers is go to a store, bring
several CDs that you want to master like, play them on every
set of speakers you can and see what the difference is

Mackie's are generally thought to be top of the line, Event
20/20 are the next in the line, VERY comparable and slightly
less expensive. You won't notice the difference unless
you're very attuned to what you're doing and in a good
acoustic room.

I have M-Audio Studiophiles, BX-8 which I got for 500$ for
the pair. They have served me very well and are, in my
opinion, the best for the price by a huge, huge margin.

huh, basically i wan't to change everything...im always
playing music from either my computer, cd-rom or dvd player
so i was thinking if i'd stick with that for now, cuz im
kind of used to use my comp as my sound resource :) i know
this isn't good for the quality of sound but i can't help it
heh.

anyway, great news i can get nice system for that money...

about monitor speakers...i can't tell the difference between
normal speaker and monitor ones :)

i don't think i can get "mackie's" over here...
here's the shop i was thinking of going to
bigbang

if you're going to check it out, there are links to
different components on the left
side...ojacevalniki=amplifiers, zvocniki=speakers

and thanks a lot for your help!

hmm.. under 1.500$?

if you want surround with just as good stereo, I recommend
the Yamaha RxV-440 reciever, or up from that model. It has
won tests because it is just as good with stereo as with
surround. I've got the RxV-440, and I am VERY satisfied with
its performance in both areas.

If you just want stereo, maybe Classé would be the way to
go, even though they ARE expensive.

For speakers, I have the Audiopro Focus SA-5 speakers, which
also have won tests. They have an incredibly wide
frequency-band that will keep you from having to buy a sub
(if you want surround) for a while. It will also give you
good bass-reproduction on regular music. B&W also makes lots
of good speakers, as well as Dali. You should also check out
Infinity, but watch out as they just have discontinued
production of certain lines.

If you want to go all over the top with speakers (above the
price-range you've set for your entire set), check out
Martin Logans electrostatic speakers!

For DVD, the Harman/Kardon DVD25 has gotten good reviews for
being just as good with DVD as with cds.

If you olny want CD, try marantz or denon.

if you want vinyl, technics, rega or clearaudio are the
top-choices.

be wary you don't buy anythinh which has gone out of
production from the company. lots of companies have just
stopped producing some of their lines.

I recommand him a Rotel. And monitor speaker are not for
his kind of music. Tolstoyed must go to the shop with his
CD-s and listn some of the speakers. Ears are his friends
at chosing the speakers.

im on to speakers now...i couldn't find anything you
mentioned here and i don't feel like running around too
much

what would be better:
1) Infinity Alpha 40CH (3 way speaker, 20-200 W RMS, 8 ohm)

or

2) jbl xti 80 (3 way speaker, 250 W , 6 ohm)

any of these any good?

B&W speakers seem to be regarded as some of the best
affordable speakers you can buy
