complicity + understanding of subject matter is the root of most comedy. I think you mean having the same understanding of the subject matter than the comedian is attempting to display. Have you never got the feeling that Chris Morris is taking the piss out of the viewer as much as the subject he is having a go at. Maybe it is because I don't read the tabloid newpapers that I don't find it as funny as some of you do. I didn't say he was unfunny, I just don't think he is the comic genius that some of you seem to be wanking off over. Finally, if I wanted to be preached at I would join a fucking religion or something. |

i couldnt care less if morris is taking the piss out of his audience.. and that includes me. i think that if youre prepared to laugh at others, you should be prepared to laugh at yourself. i don't take myself so seriously that im going to be offended if someone points out some of the hypocrisies that i (as we all) am guilty of. maybe if youre not familiar with the structure, political bias + (a)moral preaching of tabloids (and other 'news' sources) you will miss some of the humour in morris' work. i didnt realise i'd started mastubating at any point while reading this thread. er.. maybe you should join a religion then.. if you want to be preached at..? |

Actually I think a lot of his observations are pretty good. I preferred The Day Today to Brass Eye though, I think it was a little more refined it its satire. Brass Eye has many good moments though, and as I have said a couple of times I do find him funny, but not a genius (overused far too often). The use of the word wanking was metaphorical in context. |

we have an accord! most are available in mp3/rp format. sound quality on the realplayer versions is a bit shit, but they have every episode. very funny. + the sketches float in + out of some good tunes. |
