It's ok. I used to like it a lot more than I do now.
Maynard just seems to be really believing he has SOMETHING TO SAY the whole time.

people who prefer aenima over lateralus, generally prefer the downward spiral over the fragile, which i think is criminal.

Tool used to be my favorite band in the world, like when I was in high school. I listened to them so much, then I just sorta realized that Maynard thinks he's elevated higher than Jesus and he has to teach his followers. It's bullshit, and I'd rather listen to other stuff now.

christ, the lyrics in lateralus are the downfall. they are so straightforward and boring. they sound really plain and 'been done' before. kind of like adult alternative or something.

I thought the best thing about this album was the ARTWORK and how they did that. Otherwise, I LOVE this band and I was just dissapointed with this album. I would probably have to give it a proper listen again soon.

i wouldn't say the record is an embarassment....but i wouldn't say it's as good as their previous -- parabola/ole/pair-a-balls get on my nerves though -- i think it's maybe a little tooooo much testosterone for my tastes.

Well if you look at what Tool is doing, its understandable. They are the best "pop" band out there. Their songs are played on the radio a bunch and their live shows are big and fancy. So of course you will attract tons of young people (who like heavy metal/hard rock) but have to direction or purpose in life. You have to preach to these people because they have nothing else besides the music they like. I think maynard knows this too (imo) so hes actually doing a good service. Does any of this make sense?

name something you've learned from any song! Thats why i like tool, they say to everyone what i would like to say everyone. Just because I didn't learn it from tool doesn't mean i cant relate to what they have to say.

i just finished listening to undertow for the whoknowshowmanyth time, and it's still my favourite tool album. it's cool on vinyl too, but i was dissapointed by the lack of artwork (a single sleeve which held 2 12"s, front and back art are same as cd).
