Merzbows thoughts: "Hmmm, lets see, Ill send my noise
generator to an overdrive... and add another distortion
plugin. Ok... lets see... lets send that track to bus 1, a
distortion plugin, and add a master effect on the main out:
distortion.

;)

Awesome man, I'll probably go and see him this sunday night
when he's over here. I haven't bothered getting a ticket but
I reckon I can get one at the door, etc.

had coffee with him this morning in brisbane with him & a
couple others from the what is music festival, to be honest
i didnt really enjoy his set.. my faves were turiko nujiko
(?) and whitehouse were hilarious... loved them :) after the
merzbow set in brisbane he then did a dual improv with that
japanese guitar dude, forgot his name, he was pretty average
tho... apparently him and merzbow are going into the studio
in melbourne

i reccomend you see Noriko Tujiko & Pumice... also
whitehouse... yes, they were probably the best... and check
out lawrence english to...

odd tho.. i thought merzbow wasnt playing until the 12th

I like whitehouse! Been around forever by the way! Cool pics
thanks for sharing! I love it when people take pics of
concerts because it makes me so jealous. There is never
anything worth while where i live :/

whitehouse are cool. I'm gonna get more of their stuff. I'd
really like to see merzbow live though. i'd get really into
it I think - no earplugs and try to let the multi
dimensional walls of noise wash over me. That would be
wicked.

check "steinbolt" (from ultravisitor) and take away all the
beats and melodies...that is what merzbow sounds like.

offline horsefactory from 💠 (United Kingdom) on 2004-02-10 09:46 [#01066925]

Ignore tolstoyed.

Merzbow is multi layered, incredibly dense layers of noise.
It reminds me of standing in a sandstorm or hurricane. Or
hurricane sandstorm. Really good stuff when you're in the
mood. It is not however "steinbolt with the drums and
melodies removed".

ohh, you take everything literaly...i like merzbow a lot
infact, i was just trying to point out what kind of sound to
expect. i have quite many of his cd's and i love them all,
especially time hunter!
i like this kind of music even more, but i only had a chance
to see haswell for now - im looking forward to seeing akita
tho.

nacmat, since you like to have complete disographies by
artists you get into, merzbow could keep you busy for a
while, he surely released over 200 records :-)

no, not really...smojphace was different. merzbow is
distorted noise, but as horsefactory said, extremly well
produced and imaginative.

merzbow uses a lot of layers, if you take time to listen to
it you'll notice it's a wall of sound that 'sucks you in'
kinda, instead of irritating noise
merzbow is deeper and more intense that the ktpa's imo

you're a big merzbow fan...does steinbolt sound little alike
merzbow at some moments to you?
