Yeah. I would want to take a course in pimpology. It is basically turning into "give us your money and we will give you a bit of paper with whatever you want written on it"

It's the second greatest argument for reducing the number of university entrants to 20% of the population. (The first being cost to the taxpayer of course).
The American universites are a lot worse than here for it from what I can gather (a mate in his second year there still hadn't decided what he wanted his degree in, it seemed like an extension of high school and provided you stuck around long enough to get enough credits you could pick the title of your degree based on studying a subject for sixth months).
Ours are going the same way sadly... these "joint honours" degrees can be good, but in a lot of cases they're a pussy out option for people (once they're on a course) who find a subject too hard/they're too lazy. A kid in my uni did 8 months of first year computing, scraped (and I do mean scraped...) a pass and then changed to another degree. His degree title will be "sports management and IT joint honours". It's offensive that someone as inept at computing as him (not to mention with such limited width and depth of experience) should have a degree in the subject. It devalues legitimate degrees and in the long term means people have to waste time getting degrees for jobs where a degree really isn't neccessary.

i'm not sure about universities in the United States as whole, but the universities in California are going from bad to worse with the budget crisis. tuition just went up by 30% last semester and it looks like it's going up again next semester.
