I was just watching this again yesterday and decided to rip
up one of the songs from the OST. Tears for Fears, Head over
Heals was the song of choice. So here is my little remix of
it, in its beta stage. There are some more things I want to
work with (like the ending) but all in all its coming
together well.

How modest of you to say so. I would question your
definition of "well"

Well that would be my opinion, all others are welcome and
encouraged. I'd love to hear what others may have to say
about it, and I would love to hear any advice your or anyone
else would care to offer.

I saw this movie this saturday and was impressed. I don't
know why but this movie never made it to the cinemas here,
so I don't know much about it. Is it "based on a true story"
or something since it takes place in 88?

I bought the dvd just about a week ago and I was mighty
impressed too! I think the eighties is a perfect backdrop to
the story. I don't know why though... it's just something
about the feel of that time.. Maybe they chose the eighties
to best suit the the people they aimed this movie at in the
first place. Did you watch it on dvd morsto?

I downloaded it. I have been working in psychiatric
institutions, and I was really impressed by the guy playing
Donnie. The way he looked, moved, and talked, sometimes
manic and sometimes sleepy because of his medications. It
was like watching the people I've worked with. Very
impressive.

Yeah its a great movie, I picked up the dvd at best buy for
10$ so if you don't already have it you should be able to
find it cheap. I'm not too sure why it never made the
theatres either, but its well worthy of it. There seems to
be a large following of the movie though, so thats good.

"so exactly how does one suck a fuck?"
"I'm beginning to have signifigant doubts about your
dedication to sparkle-motion"

"Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?" Fuck, it's a
good line.

No, it's not based on a true story. It's just set in the 80s
because, damnit, more films should be.

It didn't really seem like the 80's

one of the best movies of the past years. Really quite good
especially considering it was the directors first film. Its
almost a cult classic allready

Well, why should they put it to 1988? I thought maybe there
were something about that airplane-engine, that something
similar did happen (or at least a newspaper story) that
year.

Apparently they made a few mistakes. I found this on some
site on the net:

Anachronisms: The movie is set in 1988, but vehicles have
late-'90s-style license plates.

Anachronisms: Prof. Monnitoff refers to the then-current
1988 edition of "A Brief History In Time" by Stephen Hawking
as he suggests wormholes as a method of time travel.
However, the chapter on wormholes was not added to Hawking's
book until the 10th anniversary edition released in 1998.

Anachronisms: The bottle of Old Spice in Donnie's medicine
cabinet has a picture of a modern yacht with a tri-cornered
sail. This logo didn't appear until the mid-90s; in 1988 the
logo was a clipper ship. There is also a stick of Suave
deodorant featuring the label designed during the '90s

Crew or equipment visible: When Donnie and his dad are
talking in the car - just before they almost run grandma
death over - a clapperboard is reflected in the window
behind Donnie's Dad's head.

Continuity: When Donnie first talks to Prof. Monnitoff about
time travel, the slinky is inside his collar in one shot and
outside it in the next.

Anachronisms: When Donnie grabs the keys to the car on the
last day, there is a Blockbuster card. The style of card
shown is not one from 1988, it is a much more recent one.

Continuity: In the scene where the students are being asked
to write "They made me do it" on the board Donnie writes
after Sam Bylan his and walks past the police/principal. The
principal pulls a pen out of his top pocket and writes a
question mark next to Donnie's name. However, the two names
previous to Donnie's were already crossed through. It's
unlikely that the principal would get his pen out after
every signing.

Anachronisms: In the school play scene, a lantern called an
ETC Source 4 PAR can be seen. ETC did not introduce the
Source 4 lantern until 1992.
