(This is about the M-Audio ozone midi controller, if you
are wondering)

Ok, so I pop in the drivers cd and the manual tells me to go
to the "ozone" folder and run the exe driver... well, there
just so happens to NOT be an ozone folder anywhere there...
so apparently I have no drivers. I have 3 questions: Has
anyone else experienced this? Are drivers available online?
Why the fuck am I so unlucky?

When i got my oxygen 8 the cd confused te fuck out of me.

Give me a list of what you have on the cd and i'll see what
i can do.

the five folders that are on the cd are:

Arkaos VJ lite
DSound RT Player
IK Multimedia SampleTank
LinPlug Free Alpha
Propellerhead Demos

there is definately no folder called Ozone like the manual
says there should be... though I haven't tried installing
any of the things in these folders yet.

Sorry i got occupied doing something else.

So there is no folder that metions drivers or anything?

Hmmm, personally i would check the m-audio site and if not
that get them to send you the driver and install files.

Sorry you had to wait such a long time for a short answer.

i've got the driver setup file. if you have problems finding
it online, just e-mail me or catch me on msn.

follow the instructions in the manual, because it's a little
difficult setting up the two seperate drivers (audio and
midi interface)

alright, I've got it successfully installed.. now I've got
some new questions:

Question 1: While listening to an mp3 through the ozone, I'm
hearing some clicks/pops... I think is this from the latency
being set to medium, and I'm fairly certain my computer can
handle low or very low latency, but when I try to change it
in the ozone start bar menu, it won't let me, telling me to
make sure all audio and ASIO applications are stopped. What
might be causing this?

Question 2: ive currently got my acoustic guitar hooked up
and im monitoring it fine, but what do I need to do to get
cubase sx to accept the signal for recording? So far the
only wires I have hooked up are the instrument cable for my
guitar and the usb to the computer.. what else am I going to
need?

ok well i got it to change latency, but I'm still hearing
pops... it happens on an interval, like every second it will
make a little tick.. am I supposed to be hearing this?

its not happening on everything I listen to either.. but
certain tracks have some definate poppiness to them, while
others sound fine.

that happened to me also, those little pops sometimes. i got
the ozone plugged into the extended USB, which is front of
the computer. but, then when i re-installed my windows, i
decided to plug it in the USB on my motherboard and the pops
have stopped completely.

there are two versions of USB. USB and USB2.0. the USB2.0 is
faster, it's as fast as firewire (or maybe faster) , so
maybe the problem is, you plugged it into the older version
(i'm. Ozone is designed for USB2. that's what i think is the
most likely possiblity of your problem. the other one is,
you might need to plug it into a usb on the motherboard, not
an external USB. (i'm not sure wether my external USB is
USB2.0 or not)

i hope this helps

tell me if it's USB or USB2 and how its' plugged

I have USB2.0 and it's plugged in in the back of the
computer... so I don't know what the problem could be.

try to uninstall other audio drivers that might be
interfering, like soundblaster if you have that. if that
doesn't work, reinstall windows if you can. worked for me

but I still use my soundblaster card for gaming and such..
and reinstalling windows isn't an option... ill just have to
hope it isn't much of a problem..

did you say you could help me with cubase?

ok so I am trying to dust this baby off and get some use out
of it, but now the USB port on the back is all finnicky and
won't stay powered on! I have to keep jiggling the cord and
eventually I can get it to some form of "sweet-spot" but if
I move it slightly it powers off again! I have tried it with
2 different USB cords, one of which I just opened from the
packaging right now, so I know it isn't the cables' fault...
what the fuck is going on? has anyone else experienced this?

oh.. you can't have two soundcards at the same time.. sorry.
A friend of mine had that problem, and we had to take out
the other soundcard completely...

I don't know if it'll work (you may actually have to
physically take out the soundblaster), but you can try
creating two different "hardware-profiles" in windows, one
for gaming and the other for music. This will give you a
startupmenu where you select when you turn your computer on.
In the one for gaming, you have the soundblaster activated,
and on the other one, you have it deactivated...

I have an oxygen8 (which is a dumbed down midi controller),
yours sounds more complicated... I dont know what to tell
you.

Um... I haven't had too much of a problem with mine, I had
some stutter starts, but now it works great... My usb plug
works fine...

I hate when expensive shit doesn't work :(
