A new Nord Modular G2 and a Yamaha O1X for £750 (for both
not each) by my mate who acquires things for me. He said
hopefully he will be able to lay his hands on them next
week. I reckon (if he gets them) this will beat the digital
camera for value for money :D!!!!

Does anyone know anything about the Yamaha thingy? Is it
meant to be any good? I can get just the Nord for £350 I
think.

But stealing software = OK?

Fuck off with the moral judgements I just want to know if
the stuff is worth buying or not?

here

the yamaha doesn't seem bad at all especially for the
price.

and stealing makes me go a big rubbery one.

If you steal software you don't take it away from anyone.
And you might eventually buy it - several Germans are
stuffing their faces with sausage tonight because I pirated
Reaktor and liked it so much I bought it.

By buying stolen keyboards you are creating a demand for
stolen gear that virtually guarantees your buddy is going to
steal some more.

Both are really good. The Eq on the 01 is a bit crap
though, it's better if you take things away rather than
boost with it.

How are you getting on with Reaktor?

So far I like it a lot - I find some of the ensembles in the
user library sound terrific and are much lighter on CPU than
the flashy ones that ship on the CD.

So far I've just created some analog subtractive things that
are variations on a tutorial - I'm going to get a lot more
into it this weekend.

I'll wait and see what happens next week...he will probably
turn up with a £20 Casio and a Yamaha sewing machine
anyway. Reading about the O1X it doesn't really appeal to
me at the moment as I'm no where near the level where I
would be looking at using it. The Nord would be OK to play
with though.

It's a good way to learn the architechture by deleting bits
from the preset ensembles. Sort of going backwards but you
find different things out. When you're ready I'll mail you
some ensembles I've created from my BRAIN! ; )

If he'll sell them seperatly just get the nord, you can do
what the 01 does in the PC better.

well, while its only a copy of the software... the problem
lies in that the company themself arnt getting the profit
from it, that they deserve.

its pretty much the same thing... (and Im not supporting
either)

but Ecand: the nord goes for roughly $1800 here. Just be
careful... because if you are caught with it... thats
possesion of stolen goods. Grand theft technically...

fuckin grab them while they are there, cheap gear is cheap
gear, even if you dont use the O1X it can be passed/sold on
to a good home.

as long as its not coming from someones house its no bother.

If the police ever check the serial numbers of the stuff in
my house I am fucked already, so a couple more things aren't
going to make any difference. :D

Ha ha ha, I thought you were refering to "both stealing
software and stealing hardware" for a second.
